Abstract

The invention relates to a method for typing of at least one nucleic acid molecule of the human cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator CFTR gene comprising the steps of: providing at least one nucleic acid molecule of the CFTR gene providing at least one extension primer designed to extend over at least two potential variable sites in the nucleic acid molecules simultaneously or sequentially performing primer extension reactions, and determining the pattern of nucleotide incorporation to obtain a test pattern optionally comparing the test pattern of step c with one or more reference patterns, in order to type the variable sites of the nucleic acid molecules. Moreover, the invention refers to a kit comprising a set of primers for use in typing mutations related to cystic fibrosis. The invention hereby provides an easy, reliable and fast system for analysis of the large number of mutations related to cystic fibrosis.
