Abstract

The invention refers to a method for controlling the thickness of a galvanising coating on a metallic object (2). The coating is applied by continuous transportation of the object from an arrangement (1) for depositing a molten metal onto the object. The metallic object (2) is transported from said arrangement in a transportation direction along a transportation path (4) including a plane (x). Excessive molten metal is wiped off from the object by applying a magnetic force onto the object (2). Moreover, the position of the object (2) is stabilised with respect to the plane (x) by means of an electromagnetic stabilising device.
