Известен масляный бальзам из свежих цветков зверобоя, который применяется для лечения ран, ожогов, язв, нарывов (Г.З.Минеджян "Сборник по народной медицине и нетрадиционным способам лечения" М.: Техноэкос, 1991, с.214). За прототип взят масляный бальзам из плодов облепихи, обладающий ранозаживляющим и противовоспалительным действием. Бальзам используют для лечения язвы желудка. Группе больных (7 человек) с послеоперационными нагноениями мягких тканей на рану накладывали марлевую повязку, пропитанную предлагаемым масляным бальзамом. Повязку меняли через сутки. У больных через 3-4 дня исчезли воспалительные явления, раны очистились от гнойно-некротических тканей, появилось первичное затяжение. Окончательное выздоровление наблюдалось через 7-8 суток. Анамнез: болен 3 года, мучают постоянные изжоги, частые обострения болей в области желудка и пищевода, особенно после приема пищи, часто ночные боли. Результат обследования показал, что рубец язвы рассосался, остался малозаметный белый шовчик, кислотность желудочного сока была в норме. Показатели крови удовлетворительные.
