Способ повышения степени извлечения ванадия при конвертировании природно-легированных, в частности, ванадийсодержащих чугунов, включающий в себя цикл, например, из трех плавок, заливку в кислородный конвертер ванадийсодержащего чугуна, продувку его кислородом до содержания углерода в металле-полупродукте 2,5-3,5%, присадку окислителя-охладителя, выпуск через летку металла-полупродукта в ковш после продувки плавки каждого цикла, но с оставлением ванадийсодержащего шлака в конвертере, отличающийся тем, что на первых плавках цикла выпуск металла-полупродукта в ковш прекращают до визуального появлении следов ванадийсодержащего шлака в струе металла, а выпуск металла-полупродукта последней плавки цикла осуществляют полностью с попаданием на зеркало расплава в ковше ванадийсодержащего шлака.
