Известен метод консервативного удаления ногтей путем местного воздействия различных средств, например: кератолитических пластырей (мочевинного и трихлоруксусного), лаков, плотных мазей, содержащих димексид, сульфида бария. Перед наложением лечебных средств назначают горячую мыльно-содовую ванну и соскабливают верхний слой ногтя скальпелем или лезвием безопасной бритвы. На ноготь наносят толстым слоем (3-5 мм) пластырную массу и заклеивают липким пластырем. Лечебную массу меняют через 4 суток 3-4 раза. После снятия лечебной массы ноготь удаляют маникюрными кусачками или ножницами. Сущность метода заключается в натирании края ногтя сырой морковью до полного его размягчения, после чего край ногтя срезается ножницами или маникюрными кусачками. Процедуру (натирание края и его срезание) повторяют 5-15 раз в зависимости от размеров ногтя и площади его поражения до полного удаления пораженной ткани ногтя или всего ногтя (в случае его полного поражения). Одновременно ногтевое ложе очищается от роговых масс. Операция по удалению пораженной ткани ногтя продолжается 10-15 минут за одно посещение врача.
