Abstract

The invention relates to a method for the series production of a piston. According to said method, a cast melt fills a multiple-part casting mould and the feeder via a supply region, and then solidifies in the casting mould such that the outer contour of the cast part is determined or residual surfaces are determined. According to the invention, the casting mould is opened and the cast part is removed from the mould before the casting melt solidifies in the region of the feeder such that an edge shell holding the contents of the feeder is formed or the feeder is completely solidified in such a way as to achieve a dimensional stability.
