Abstract
Provided is a method for manufacturing briquettes through pelletization such that a fine iron oxide-containing powder wherein 50 pcnt of particles are 2 mm or smaller can be utilized as starting material for iron manufacture. Another purpose is to provide a technique for manufacturing reduced iron from briquettes obtained by briquetting. The method for manufacturing briquettes includes a step of heat treating an iron oxide-containing powder wherein 50 pcnt of particles are 2 mm or smaller at a temperature of 900-1,200oC, and a step of pelletizing the resulting heat-treated powder as a starting material for manufacturing briquettes.
