Abstract
Describe procesos y sistema para producir sulfato de potasio, como un subproducto de un proceso de desulfuracion. El dioxido de azufre es absorbido, desde un gas de combustion por medio de una solucion que contiene amoniaco para producir una solucion de sulfato de amonio, que contiene sulfato de amonio disuelto. A lo menos una primera porcion, de la solucion de sulfato de amonio, es calentada antes de disolver el cloruro de potasio, para formar una lechada, que contiene cristales de sulfato de potasio y una solucion de cloruro de amonio. La lechada, es enfriada luego, para precipitar los cristales adicionales de sulfato de potasio, luego de lo cual son removidos los cristales de sulfato de potasio, para producir una solucion de cloruro de amonio residual que contiene cloruro de amonio y sulfato de potasio disuelto residual. El amoniaco, es posteriormente absorbido, en la solucion de cloruro de amonio residual, para precipitar adicionalmente los cristales de sulfato de potasio, los cuales son removidos para producir una solucion residual de cloruro de amonio, que esta substancialmente libre de sulfato de potasio disuelto.
