- 일반식 (I)의 광학 활성-2-비페닐일피리딘.상기 식에서, R은 C1내지 C15의 알킬 그룹이고, R*는 C4내지 C15의 광학 활성 알킬 그룹, C2내지 C13의 광학 활성 할로겐화 알킬 그룹, C3내지 C14의 광학 활성 시아노화 알킬 그룹, C4내지 C15의 광학 활성 알콕시알킬 그룹, C5내지 C16의 광학 활성 할로겐화 알콕시알킬 그룹, C5내지 C16의 광학 활성 알카노일옥시알킬 그룹, C5내지 C16의 광학 활성 할로겐화 알카노일옥시알킬 그룹, C5내지 C16의 광학 활성 알콕시알카노일옥시알킬 그룹, C4내지 C15의 광확 활성 알카노일 그룹, C4내지 C15의 광학 활성 알콕시알카노일 그룹 또는 C3내지 C14의 광학 활성 할로겐화 알콕시카보닐알킬 그룹 이며, X는 수소 또는 불소원자이다.
- 제1항에 있어서, R이 C4내지 C12의 선형 알킬 그룹인 광학 활성-2-비페닐일피리딘.
- 두 개 이상의 성분을 포함하고 그 중에서 하나 이상의 성분이 제1항에 따른 광학 활성-2-비페닐일피리딘임을 특징으로 하는 액정 조성물.
- 제3항에 있어서, 키랄 스멕틱상을 나타내는 액정 조성물.
- 제3항에 있어서, 키랄 네마틱상을 나타내는 액정 조성물.
- 제3항에 따른 액정 조성물을 함유함을 특징으로 하는 광개폐소자.
