The present invention relates to methods of treating materials, compositions for use in such methods, and related uses. In particular, the present invention relates to a method of treating a keratinous material, particularly hair, to benefit a material.

The appearance, condition and cleanliness of the hair are of great importance to many people. As a result, there are a large number of hair care products available that provide a wide range of benefits and contain the majority of the various ingredients. However, popular hair styles continue to change with fashion trends and the technological advancement of hair styling devices means that there is a continuing need for different and improved hair care compositions. In addition, as we become more aware of the toxicity of certain chemicals and their environmental impacts, there are increasing requirements to consider when developing cosmetics.

The present invention relates to a method of treating a material. In some embodiments, the material may be a textile material. In such embodiments, the textile material suitably comprises wool, and preferably comprises wool in its major proportion.

Preferred features of the first and second aspects of the present invention will now be described. Any feature may be applied to any other aspect as appropriate. Thus, the method of the first aspect may suitably comprise contacting the hair with a composition comprising an amine salt of a carboxylic acid as defined in connection with the second aspect.
