시스템 개요

소스 인코더들

타겟 최대 비트레이트들을 결정하는 것

본 발명의 실시예에 따라 특정 해상도 및 프레임 레이트 조합들과 연관된 최적의 타겟 최대 비트레이트들의 세트에 기초하여 최대 비트레이트 레벨들의 세트를 결정하기 위한 프로세스가 도 4에 예시된다. 상기 프로세스(300)는 현재 비트레이트를 최적의 타겟 최대 비트레이트들의 세트로부터 가장 높은 최적의 타겟 최대 비트레이트로 설정하는 것(310)을 수반한다. 상기 레벨 최대 비트레이트는 현재 비트레이트를 이용하여 업데이트된다(312). 많은 실시예들에서, 상기 레벨 최대 비트레이트는 현재 비트레이트 레벨에서 비트레이트들의 평균, 중앙값, 최소, 또는 최대 조합으로 설정될 수 있다. 다수의 실시예들에서, 레벨 평균 비트레이트는 현재 비트레이트 레벨에서의 비트레이트들의 선형 또는 비-선형 조합이다. 다른 실시예들에서, 레벨 최대 비트레이트는 상기 레벨들 모두가 식별된 후 결정될 수 있다.

다수의 실시예들에서, 특정 그룹들에 할당된 최대 비트레이트 레벨들 및 해상도들 및 프레임 레이트들이 특정 애플리케이션의 요건들에 따라 수정될 수 있다. 예를 들면, 각각의 레벨에서 최적의 최대 비트레이트는 10, 100, 또는 1000의 가장 가까운 범-자연수 배수로 올림(또는 내림)될 수 있다. 특정 프로세스가 도 4에 예시되지만, 각각의 레벨에서 해상도 및 프레임 조합들의 최적의 타겟 최대 비트레이트들의 유사성을 최대화하는 것을 포함하여(이에 제한되지 않지만) 하나 이상의 기준들에 기초하여 미리 결정된 수의 레벨들로 해상도 및 프레임 레이트 조합들을 그룹핑하는 프로세스를 포함하여 다양한 프로세스들 중 임의의 것이 이용될 수 있다.

예를 들면, 본 발명의 많은 실시예들에서, 1440x816은 4:3의 샘플 종횡비를 갖고 초당 24개의 프레임들로 1920x816의 기본 해상도를 가진 비디오 데이터에 대한 서브-해상도가다. 마찬가지로, 해상도(1440x800)은 4:3의 샘플 종횡비를 갖고 초당 24개의 프레임들로 1920x800의 기본 해상도를 가진 비디오 데이터에 대한 서브-해상도가다. 상기 1440x816 비디오의 인코딩된 최대 비트레이트는 3,557 Kbps이며 1440x800 비디오의 인코딩된 최대 비트레이트는 3,459 Kbps이다. 여러 개의 실시예들에서, 1440x816 및 1440x800은 서로의 임계 값 내에 있으며 어떤 다른 해상도들도 임계 값 내에 있지 않다. 이들 해상도들에 대한 평균 비트레이트는 3,508 Kbps이며, 반올림하여 3,500 Kbps이다. 본 발명의 실시예에 따르면, 3,500 Kbps는 상기 최대 프로파일 비트레이트들의 세트에서의 하나의 최대 비트레이트일 것이다.

Claims (20)

  1. 소스 인코더에 있어서,
    프로세서; 및
    메모리를 포함하고, 상기 메모리는 상기 프로세서로 하여금,
    비디오 콘텐트의 인코딩을 위해 해상도와 프레임 레이트를 선택하는 단계;
    상기 선택된 해상도와 프레임 레이트에서 복수의 비트레이트들로 상기 비디오 콘텐트의 적어도 일부를 인코딩하는 단계;
    상기 복수의 비트레이트들로 인코딩된 상기 비디오 콘텐트에 기초하여 상기 선택된 해상도와 프레임 레이트에 대해 최적 타겟 비트레이트를 결정하는 단계로서, 상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트는 최고 비디오 품질 기준이 상기 선택된 해상도와 프레임 레이트에 대해 충족되는 최저 비트레이트인, 상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트를 결정하는 단계;
    상기 결정된 최적 타겟 비트레이트에 기초하여 레벨 비트레이트를 결정하는 단계; 및
    상기 레벨 비트레이트 및 상기 선택된 해상도와 프레임 레이트로 상기 비디오 콘텐트를 인코딩하는 단계를 수행하게 하기 위한 인코딩 애플리케이션을 포함하는, 소스 인코더.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트는 공식을 이용하여 결정되는, 소스 인코더.
  3. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트는 실험을 이용하여 결정되는, 소스 인코더.
  4. 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트는 주관적인 실험을 이용하여 결정되는, 소스 인코더.

  6. 비디오 콘텐트를 복수의 대안 스트림들로 인코딩하기 위한 방법에 있어서,
    비디오 콘텐트의 인코딩을 위해 해상도와 프레임 레이트를 선택하는 단계;
    상기 선택된 해상도와 프레임 레이트에서 복수의 비트레이트들로 상기 비디오 콘텐트의 적어도 일부를 인코딩하는 단계;
    상기 복수의 비트레이트들로 인코딩된 상기 비디오 콘텐트에 기초하여 상기 선택된 해상도와 프레임 레이트에 대해 최적 타겟 비트레이트를 결정하는 단계로서, 상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트는 최고 비디오 품질 기준이 상기 선택된 해상도와 프레임 레이트에 대해 충족되는 최저 비트레이트인, 상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트를 결정하는 단계;
    상기 결정된 최적 타겟 비트레이트에 기초하여 레벨 비트레이트를 결정하는 단계; 및
    상기 레벨 비트레이트, 및 상기 선택된 해상도와 프레임 레이트로 상기 비디오 콘텐트를 인코딩하는 단계를 포함하는, 비디오 콘텐트를 복수의 대안 스트림들로 인코딩하기 위한 방법.
  7. 제 6 항에 있어서,
    상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트는 공식을 이용하여 결정되는, 비디오 콘텐트를 복수의 대안 스트림들로 인코딩하기 위한 방법.
  8. 제 6 항에 있어서,
    상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트는 실험을 이용하여 결정되는, 비디오 콘텐트를 복수의 대안 스트림들로 인코딩하기 위한 방법.
  9. 제 8 항에 있어서,

    상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트는 상기 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합에 기초한 함수를 이용하여 결정되는, 비디오 콘텐트를 복수의 대안 스트림들로 인코딩하기 위한 방법.
  11. 소스 인코더에 있어서,
    프로세서; 및
    메모리를 포함하고, 상기 메모리는 상기 프로세서로 하여금,
    비디오 콘텐트를 인코딩하기 위해 복수의 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합들을 선택하는 단계;
    식별된 복수의 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합들의 각각에 대해 최적 타겟 비트레이트를 결정하는 단계로서, 최적 타겟 비트레이트는 최고 비디오 품질 기준이 특정 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합에 대해 충족되는 최저 비트레이트인, 상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트를 결정하는 단계;
    상기 결정된 최적 최대 비트레이트들에 기초하여 복수의 레벨 최대 비트레이트들을 결정하는 단계로서, 상기 복수의 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합의 각각은 상기 복수의 레벨 최대 비트레이트들 중 하나와 관련있는, 상기 복수의 레벨 최대 비트레이트들을 결정하는 단계; 및
    상기 비디오 콘텐트를 복수의 대안 스트림들로 인코딩하는 단계로서, 상기 복수의 대안 스트림들의 각각은 상기 복수의 레벨 최대 비트레이트들 중 하나 및 관련된 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합으로 인코딩되는, 상기 인코딩하는 단계를 수행하게 하는 인코딩 애플리케이션을 포함하는, 소스 인코더.
  12. 제 11 항에 있어서,
    상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트들은 공식을 이용하여 결정되는, 소스 인코더.
  13. 제 11 항에 있어서,
    상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트들은 주관적인 실험을 이용하여 결정되는, 소스 인코더.
  14. 제 11 항에 있어서,
    상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트들은 상기 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합에 기초한 함수를 이용하여 결정되는, 소스 인코더.
  15. 제 11 항에 있어서,
    복수의 레벨 최대 비트레이트들을 결정하는 단계는:
    상기 결정된 최적 타겟 비트레이트들에 기초하여 상기 복수의 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합들을 비트레이트 레벨들로 그룹핑하는 단계, 및
    상기 비트레이트 레벨들의 각각에 대해 레벨 최대 비트레이트를 결정하는 단계를 포함하는, 소스 인코더.
  16. 제 15 항에 있어서,
    비트레이트 레벨의 상기 레벨 최대 비트레이트는 상기 비트레이트 레벨 내에서 상기 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합들의 최소, 최대, 및 평균 최적 타겟 비트레이트 중 하나를 선택하여 결정되는, 소스 인코더.
  17. 제 15 항에 있어서,
    비트레이트 레벨의 상기 레벨 최대 비트레이트는 상기 비트레이트 레벨 내에서 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합의 상기 최적 타겟 비트레이트를 반올림하여 결정되는, 소스 인코더.
  18. 제 15 항에 있어서,
    비트레이트 레벨의 상기 레벨 최대 비트레이트는 상기 비트레이트 레벨 내에서 상기 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합들의 평균 최적 타겟 비트레이트를 반올림하여 결정되는, 소스 인코더.

    비트레이트 레벨과 관련된 상기 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합들은 상기 비트레이트 레벨 내에서 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합의 최고 최적 타겟 비트레이트의 미리 결정된 퍼센트 내에 있는 최적 타겟 비트레이트들을 갖는, 소스 인코더.
  20. 제 15 항에 있어서,
    비트레이트 레벨과 관련된 상기 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합들은 상기 비트레이트 레벨 내에서 적어도 하나의 다른 해상도와 프레임 레이트 조합의 최적 타겟 비트레이트의 미리 결정된 퍼센트 내에 있는 최적 타겟 비트레이트들을 갖는, 소스 인코더.
