Claims (21)

- 하나 이상이 입사광에 대해 투명한 두 개의 평행한 평면 기재에 의해 형성된 액정(LC) 셀, 두 기재 사이에 존재하는 액정 매질, 및 하나 이상의 광학 지연 필름을 포함하되,상기 광학 지연 필름 중 하나 이상이 LC 셀의 두 기재 사이에 위치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이(LCD).
- 제 2 항에 있어서,하나 이상의 광학 지연 필름이 컬러 필터와 LC 매질 사이에 위치되는 것을 특징으로 하는, 상기 기재들 중 한 기재 상에 제공된 컬러 필터 어레이를 추가로 포함하는 LCD.
- 1) 아래 열거된 순서로 에지서부터 출발하여 셀 중심으로 진행하는 다음 소자를 포함하는 액정(LC) 셀:a) 하나 이상이 입사광에 투명한 서로 평행하는 제 1 및 제 2 기재 평면(11a, 11b),b) 상기 LC 셀의 개별적인 픽셀을 개별적으로 스위칭하기 위해 사용될 수 있는, 상기 기재 중 하나에 있는 임의적인 비선형 전기 소자의 어레이(12)(이때, 상기 소자는 바람직하게는 활성 소자, 예컨대 트랜지스터이고, 매우 바람직하게는 TFT이다),c) 상기 기재 중 하나, 바람직하게는 비선형 소자의 어레이를 갖는 기재의 반대 기재에 있는 임의적인 컬러 필터 어레이(13)(이때, 상기 컬러 필터는 임의적으로 평면화 층(14)에 의해 덮인다),d) 상기 제 1 기재의 내부에 제공된 제 1 전극 층(15a 또는 15b),e) 상기 제 2 기재의 내부에 제공된 임의적인 제 2 전극 층(15a 또는 15b),f) 제 1 및 제 2 전극에 제공된 임의적인 제 1 및 제 2 정렬 층(16a 또는 16b),g) 전기장 인가에 의해 둘 이상의 상이한 상태 사이에서 스위칭가능한 LC 매질(17),2) LC 셀의 한 면 상의 제 1 선형 편광기,3) 제 1 선형 편광기의 LC 셀의 면과 반대되는 LC 셀의 면 상의 임의적인 제 2 선형 편광기, 및4) 하나 이상의 광학 지연 필름(18)을 포함하되,상기 광학 지연 필름(18) 중 하나 이상이 LC 셀 중 제 1 및 제 2 기재(11a, 11b) 사이에 위치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 LCD.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,평면화 층(14)에 의해 덮히는 컬러 필터 어레이(13)를 포함하고, 상기 하나 이상의 광학 지연 필름(18)이 컬러 필터 어레이(13)로부터 떨어져 대향하는 평면화 층의 면 상에 위치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 LCD.
- 제 4 항에 있어서,컬러 필터 어레이(13)를 포함하고, 상기 하나 이상의 광학 지연 필름(18)이 최근접 기재로부터 떨어져 대향하는 컬러 필터 어레이의 면 상에 위치되고, 평면화 층(14)에 의해 임의적으로 덮이는 것을 특징으로 하는 LCD.
- 제 5 항 또는 제 6 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름(18)이 컬러 필터 어레이(13) 또는 평면화 층(14) 상에 직접 제조되는 것을 특징으로 하는 LCD.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 7 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름이 중합 또는 가교결합된 LC 물질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.
- 제 8 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름이 하나 이상의 중합성 메소제닉 또는 LC 단량체를 포함하는 중합성 LC 물질로부터 제조되는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.
- 제 9 항에 있어서,중합성 LC 물질이-5 내지 70중량%의 하나 이상의 이반응성 비키랄 메소제닉 화합물,-30 내지 95중량%, 바람직하게는 50 내지 75중량%의 하나 이상의 단반응성 비키랄 메소제닉 화합물,-0 내지 10중량%의 하나 이상의 광개시제를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.

- 제 9 항 내지 제 12 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,LC 물질이 하기 화학식 R1 내지 R23에서 선택되는 하나 이상의 화합물을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD:화학식 R1화학식 R2화학식 R3화학식 R4화학식 R5화학식 R6화학식 R7화학식 R8화학식 R9화학식 R10화학식 R11화학식 R12화학식 R13화학식 R14화학식 R15화학식 R16화학식 R17화학식 R18화학식 R19화학식 R20화학식 R21화학식 R22화학식 R23상기 화학식에서,P는 중합성 기이고,x 및 y는 동일하거나 상이한 1 내지 12의 정수이고,A는 L1에 의해 임의적으로 일-, 이- 또는 삼치환된 1,4-페닐렌 또는 1,4-사이클로헥실렌이고,u 및 v는 서로 각각 독립적으로 0 또는 1이고,Z0은 -COO-, -OCO-, -CH2CH2-, -CH=CH-, -C≡C- 또는 단일 결합이고,R0은 F, Cl, CN, NO2, OH, OCH3, OCN, SCN, 4 이하의 탄소 원자를 갖는 임의적으로 플루오르화된 알킬카보닐, 알콕시카보닐, 알킬카보닐옥시 또는 알콕시카보닐옥시 기, 또는 1 내지 4의 탄소 원자를 갖는 모노-, 올리고- 또는 폴리플루오르화된 알킬 또는 알콕시 기에서 선택된 극성 기이거나, 또는 상기 극성 기들 중 하나가 아 니며 1 이상의 탄소 원자를 갖는 임의적으로 할로겐화된 알킬, 알콕시, 알킬카보닐, 알콕시카보닐, 알킬카보닐옥시 또는 알콕시카보닐옥시 기에서 선택된 비극성 기이고,Ter는 터펜오이드 라디칼이고,Chol은 콜레스테릴 기이고,L, L1 및 L2는 서로 각각 독립적으로 H, F, Cl, CN 또는 임의적으로 할로겐화된 1 내지 7의 탄소 원자를 갖는 알킬, 알콕시, 알킬카보닐, 알킬카보닐옥시, 알콕시카보닐 또는 알콕시카보닐옥시 기이고,r은 0, 1, 2, 3 또는 4이고,페닐 고리는 1, 2, 3 또는 4의 L 기에 의해 임의적으로 치환된다.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 13 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름이 평면 필름, 호메오트로픽 필름, 틸트 필름, 벌어진 필름, 트위스트된 필름 또는 콜레스테릭 필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 14 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름이 250nm 미만의 피치를 갖는 트위스트된 또는 콜레스테릭 구조를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 15 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름이 양성 또는 음성 A, O 또는 C 플레이트인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 16 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름이 1/4 파장 지연 필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 17 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름이 광학적 2축 필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 18 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름이 nx≠ny≠nz이고, nx, ny>nz(이때, nx 및 ny은 필름 면에서 직교 방향의 기본(principal) 굴절률이고, nz는 필름 면에 수직인 기본 굴절률이다)인 광학적 2축 음성 C 대칭을 갖는 콜레스테릭 구조를 갖는 2축 필름인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 19 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,광학 지연 필름이 상이한 배향 및/또는 상이한 지연을 갖는 둘 이상의 영역을 포함하는 패턴을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학 지연 필름 또는 LCD.
- 제 2 항 내지 제 19 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,TN, HTN, STN, AMD-TN, IPS, DAP, VA, ECB, CSH, VAN, VAC, MVA, PVA, OCB, R-OCB, HAN, 파이-셀, SSCT, 등방성 또는 새로운 모드의 디스플레이인 것을 특징으로 하는 LCD.
