도 3a 내지 도 3d는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 편광판의 제조 방법을 개략적으로 나타낸 단면도이다.
도 4a와 도 4b는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 편광판의 평면 구조를 도시한 도면이다.
도 5a와 도 5b는 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 편광판에서 반응성 액정 단량체의 배열을 시뮬레이션한 결과를 도시한 도면이다.
도 6은 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 액정표시장치를 개략적으로 도시한 단면도이다.

Claims (10)
- 서로 마주보며 이격되는 제1 및 제2기판과;
상기 제1기판 일면에 위치하는 제1편광판과;
상기 제1기판 내면에 형성되는 박막트랜지스터와;
상기 제1기판 내면에 형성되고, 상기 박막트랜지스터에 연결되는 화소 전극과;
상기 화소 전극에 대응되어 전기장을 생성하는 공통 전극과;
상기 제1 및 제2기판 사이에 형성되는 액정층;
상기 제2기판의 외면과 내면 중 어느 하나에 위치하는 제2편광판
을 포함하고,
상기 제2편광판은 엇갈리게 교대로 배열된 다수의 제1패턴과 제2패턴을 각각 포함하는 제1 및 제2전극과, 상기 제1 및 제2전극 상부에 위치하고 반응성 액정 단량체와 이색성 염료로 이루어진 편광층을 포함하며,
상기 제1 및 제2전극은 상기 제2기판과 상기 편광층 사이에 위치하는 액정표시장치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,
상기 반응성 액정 단량체는 음의 유전율 이방성을 가지는 액정표시장치.
- 청구항 1에 있어서,
상기 제2편광판은 상기 제1 및 제2전극과 상기 편광층 사이에 배향막을 포함하는 액정표시장치.
- 기판 상에 엇갈리게 교대로 배열된 다수의 제1패턴과 제2패턴을 각각 포함하는 제1 및 제2전극과;
상기 제1 및 제2전극 상부에 위치하고 반응성 액정 단량체와 이색성 염료로 이루어진 편광층
을 포함하며,
상기 제1 및 제2전극은 상기 기판과 상기 편광층 사이에 위치하는 표시장치용 편광판.
- 청구항 4에 있어서,
상기 반응성 액정 단량체는 음의 유전율 이방성을 가지는 표시장치용 편광판.
- 청구항 4에 있어서,
상기 제1 및 제2전극과 상기 편광층 사이에 배향막을 더 포함하는 표시장치용 편광판.
- 기판 상에 엇갈리게 교대로 배열된 다수의 제1패턴과 제2패턴을 각각 포함하는 제1 및 제2전극을 형성하는 단계와;
상기 제1 및 제2전극 상부에 반응성 액정 단량체와 이색성 염료를 포함하는 편광층을 형성하는 단계와;
상기 편광층의 상기 반응성 액정 단량체를 중합시키는 단계
를 포함하고,
상기 반응성 액정 단량체를 중합시키는 단계는 상기 제1 및 제2전극에 전압을 인가하는 단계를 포함하며,
상기 제1 및 제2전극은 상기 기판과 상기 편광층 사이에 위치하는 표시장치용 편광판의 제조 방법.
- 청구항 7에 있어서,
상기 반응성 액정 단량체는 음의 유전율 이방성을 가지는 표시장치용 편광판의 제조 방법.
- 청구항 7에 있어서,
상기 제1 및 제2전극과 상기 편광층 사이에 배향막을 도포하는 단계와, 상기 배향막을 러빙 또는 광배향하는 단계를 더 포함하는 표시장치용 편광판의 제조 방법.
- 청구항 7에 있어서,
상기 반응성 액정 단량체를 중합시키는 단계는 자외선을 조사하거나 열을 가하여 수행되는 표시장치용 편광판의 제조 방법.
