Claims (5)
- 평행한 다수개의 게이트 버스 라인과, 게이트 버스 라인과 매트릭스 형태의 단위 화소를 형성하도록 평행하게 배열된 다수개의 데이터 버스 라인과, 상기 각 단위 화소내의 게이트 버스 라인과 데이터 버스 라인의 교차점에 제공되는 박막 트랜지스터와, 상기 박막 트랜지스터와 접속되는 화소 전극을 포함하는 하부 기판;상기 하부 기판과 소정 거리를 두고 대향되며 상기 화소 전극과 함께 전계를 형성하는 공통 전극을 포함하는 상부 기판;상기 하부 기판 및 상부 기판 사이에 개재되는 수개의 액정 분자를 포함하는액정층;상기 하부 기판 내측면 표면과 상부 기판의 내측면 표면에 각각 형성되는 제 1 및 제 2 수직 배향막; 및상기 하부 기판 외측면 및 상부 기판 외측면에 각각 부착되는 편광판을 포함하며,상기 상부 기판의 공통 전극은 사각틀 형상의 제 1 전극과, 상기 제 1 전극으로 둘러싸인 공간을 수개의 정사각형 개구 공간으로 분할하는 게이트 버스 라인과 평행하는 적어도 하나 이상의 제 2 전극을 포함하고,상기 하부 기판의 화소 전극은 상기 공통 전극의 제 1 전극으로 둘러싸인 공간을 데이터 버스 라인과 평행하는 방향을 분할하는 제 1 브렌치와, 상기 제 1 브렌치와 교차하면서 상기 각각의 개구 공간을 4개의 정사각형 전계 형성 공간으로 분할하는 수개의 제 2 브렌치를 포함하며,상기 전계 형성 공간에 형성되는 전계는 상기 게이트 버스 라인 및 데이터 버스 라인에 대하여 사선 형태로 형성되면서, 인접하는 전계 형성 공간에 형성되는 전계와 대칭을 이루는 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 상부 기판의 외측면에 배치되는 편광판은 그것의 편광축이 상기 게이트 버스 라인 또는 데이터 버스 라인과 평행하도록 배치되며, 상기 제 2 기판의 외측면에 배치되는 편광판은 상기 그것의 편광축이 상기 제 1 기판 외측면에 배치되는 편광축과 크로스되도록 배치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 공통 전극의 제 1 전극은 상기 단위 화소와 닮은꼴로 축소된 사각틀 형상인 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 액정 분자의 굴절율 이방성과 액정층의 두께의 곱이 0.2 내지 0.6㎛인 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 상부 기판과 편광판 사이에 부의 굴절율 이방성을 갖는 액정 분자들로 이루어지는 위상 보상판을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정 표시 장치.
