マフラーから尾管出口までの長さをＬとしたとき、該尾
管出口から約１７２Ｌの位置に、吸音要素と共鳴要素と
からなるポストマフラーを設置し、吸音要素としては連
通管に複数の小孔を穿ち、該小孔を、連通管外周に１０
〜２０ｍｍの間隙をもって成形された軸長ＩＳの両端閉
鎖のほぼ円筒状のケース内に保持された吸音材で被包し
た構造とし、また、共鳴要素と１では、ヘルムホルツ型
共鳴器を用い、頚管断面積をＳｐ１頸管長をｌｐ、共鳴
室容積をＶｐとしたとき、 （７ｒ）２−８ｐ Ｌ＋２１ｓＶｐ−１ｐ の関係を有する構造としたことを特徴とする自動車用エ
