Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an immersion nozzle which prevents local abrasion owing to the percolation of molten powder by disposing the zirconia-graphite base mixture compounded with a silica source and a binder in the part to be in contact with the molten molding power of a nozzle body, then molding and calcining the same. CONSTITUTION:65-95wt% Zirconia, <=35% graphite, 0.2-5.0% silica of <=50mu grain size, silicic acid base raw material, one or more kinds of SiC, ZrO2, SiO2, Si3N4, ZrC, ZrN and <=13% binder (resin and pitch or the like) that provides carbon bonds after reduction calcination are kneaded. This compound is disposed near the part in contact with a molten powder layer 3 in a nozzle body 5, and is molded by an isostatic press, after which it is calcined in a reducing atmosphere, whereby a refractory layer 6 is formed. Thereby, the immersion nozzle for continuous casting of less generator of local abrasion near the interface of the molten steel 2 and the molten powder 3, and a long service life is obtained.
