Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the size in the axial direction of the steering gear by movably mounting a pinion gear to an input shaft installed to a housing in the axial direction and transmitting the movement in the axial direction of said gear to a control valve fitted in parallel with the input shaft.
CONSTITUTION: The input shaft 1 is positioned into the housing 4 in the axial direction, and axially supported rotatably. The pinion gear 6 is mounted slidably to the input shaft 1 in the axial direction, and an annular boss section of a valve drive member 14 is fitted to an end section at the rear side of the pinion gear 6. A cylindrical hole 17 is formed to the housing proper 4 in parallel with the input shaft 1, a sleeve 13 is press-fitted and fixed to the hole 17, a spool 18 is fitted onto the inner circumferential surface, and the control valve is constituted. An annular body 19 is fitted at a nose of a small diameter section 30 at the rear side of the spool 18, and a nose of said valve drive member 14 is fitted between both flanges of the annular body 19.
