Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound in large quantities, with a small-sized reactor, by reacting large excess phosgene with an organic primary amine in a tubular circulation circuit at a temperature to decompose a part of the intermediate, and completing the decomposition of the intermediate in the second stage reactor at higher temperature, thereby carrying out the phosgenation.
CONSTITUTION: A large excess phosgene is supplied through the phosgene-feed pipe 3 to the tubular circulation circuit 1 in the presence of an inert organic solvent. At the same time, an organic primary amine is supplied to said circulation circuit 1 through the amine-feed pipe 2, and both raw materials are circulated under a pressure of ≤10kg/cm2G at 60W100°C which is the temperature to decompose 30W70% of carbamoyl chloride produced as an intermediate. The amine (hydrochloride) is phosgenated during the circulation. The reaction mixture is then transferred through the pipe 6 to the second stage reactor maintained at 120W160°C and ≤10kg/cm2G pressure to complete the phosgenation of the unreacted amine and the decomposition of the intermediate optionally by introducing additional phosgene. After the completion of the reaction, the mixture is flashed in a flash tank 12 and degassed to obtain the objective compound.
