Abstract
PURPOSE: A by-product gas containing carbon dioxide is brought into contact with red-heated coke to reduce to carbon monoxide and then fed to a reducing furnace or burning furnace to utilize the endothermic reaction of reduction to increase the cooling effect, thus greatly improving the heat recovery.
CONSTITUTION: A by-product gas containing carbon dioxide, which is generated in blast furnace 1 and cleaned by dry type dust eliminator 3, thus being at high pressures and low temperatures (150°C), is sent to pipe 7 where the pressure is lowered and the flow rate is controlled by pressure control valve 10 and flow rate control valve 11, and then sent to cooling column 12. The by-product gas that has come into contact with red-heated coke (1,000°C) is heat exchanged in the cooling column 12 to about 800°C and taken out of the column. In the meantime, the red- heated coke 21 becomes cooled coke, which is expelled. The by-product gas, which has become a reducing gas of high temperature and high carbon monoxide content is dust eliminated in dry-type dust eliminator 13, increased in pressure with blower 14, passed through hot air valve 15 and fed to blast furnace 1.
