Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate atactic polypropylene from hydrocarbon solvents efficiently in one stage, by pressurizing a polypropylene solution to such a pressure as not to vaporize the solvents in a preheater, and by feeding the solution heated to a temperature below the critical temperature to a flush drum.
CONSTITUTION: A solution of soluble propylene homo-or copolymer in hydrocarbons is pressurized to such a pressure as not to voporize the solvents in a preheater, and heated to a temperature below the critical temperature of the solvents, then fed through a reducing valve to a flash drum comprising vapor risers, a jacket, soluble part outlet, and heating coil of the soluble part. The soluble part is recovered from the outlet in a state heated at 170°C or above, and hydrocarbon vapors are cooled in or outside the flash drum to 170°C or below, condensed and recovered.
