Description

The present invention relates to a scalp protection composition.

Nowadays, it is not uncommon to change hair color using hair colorants such as oxidative hair dyes and bleaches, or to change hairstyles using perm agents such as permanent wave agents and hair straighteners at home using commercially available products rather than going to a beauty salon.

Commercially available home hair coloring or perming products are designed to have a consistent effect regardless of hair type, so depending on your individual constitution, the amount of active ingredients (alkaline agents and oxidizing agents) may be slightly excessive. This can cause scalp irritation when using the hair coloring or perming product.

In light of this, pretreatment agents have been developed to protect the scalp before using hair colorants or perms. For example, there is an oily pretreatment agent containing a hydrocarbon and hydrophobic silica that reduces or prevents scalp irritation and prevents discoloration or staining of the scalp (Patent Document 1).

However, the oily pretreatment agent described in Patent Document 1 spreads poorly on the scalp when applied, and there is a risk that it may not be distributed over the entire scalp. Furthermore, Patent Document 1 does not go into detail about scalp irritation during use of hair coloring agents or perms, and their effectiveness is uncertain. Furthermore, the oily pretreatment agent forms a film on the hair, which inhibits the effects of the hair coloring agent or perm agent, and there is an issue that the finished hair condition is not fully satisfactory. Furthermore, the stability of the oily pretreatment agent over time under low-temperature and high-temperature conditions is also uncertain, and there is still room for improvement.

As a result of extensive research into solving the above problems, the present inventors discovered that the above problems could be solved by providing a scalp protection composition to be used before the use of a hair coloring agent or perm agent, the scalp protection composition being characterized by containing (A) a cationic thickener, (B) a nonionic thickener, (C) a polyhydric alcohol, (D) ethanol, and (E) an organic acid, and thus completed the present invention.

The present invention provides a scalp protection composition that is easy to use when applied, reduces irritation to the scalp during use of a hair coloring agent or perm agent, does not impair the effects of the hair coloring agent or perm agent, and is highly stable over time.

The present invention will be described in detail below. Note that all content units are in mass% unless otherwise specified.

The scalp care composition according to the present invention contains (A) a cationic thickener from the viewpoint of ease of application.

The component (A) used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but examples include O-[2-hydroxy-3-(trimethylammonio)propyl]hydroxyethylcellulose chloride, O-[2-hydroxy-3-(trimethylammonio)propyl]guar gum chloride, locust bean hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, polydimethyldimethylenepyrrolidinium chloride, dimethyldiallylammonium chloride-acrylamide copolymer, dimethyldiallylammonium chloride-acrylic acid copolymer, and the like, and the composition may contain one or more selected from these. Among these, from the viewpoint of improving usability during application, O-[2-hydroxy-3-(trimethylammonio)propyl]hydroxyethylcellulose chloride and O-[2-hydroxy-3-(trimethylammonio)propyl]guar gum chloride are preferred, and O-[2-hydroxy-3-(trimethylammonio)propyl]hydroxyethylcellulose chloride is more preferred.

The scalp protection composition according to the present invention contains (B) a nonionic thickener from the viewpoint of ease of application.

The component (B) used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but examples include hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, dextrin, etc., and one or more selected from these may be contained. Among these, from the viewpoint of improving usability during application, hydroxyethyl cellulose and hydroxypropyl cellulose are preferred, and hydroxyethyl cellulose is more preferred.

The total amount of the components (A) and (B) used in the scalp protection composition of the present invention is not particularly limited, but is preferably 0.8 to 2.4%, and more preferably 1.2 to 2%. If the total amount of components (A) and (B) is less than 0.8%, there is a risk that the ease of use during application will be impaired and that irritation of the hair coloring agent or perm agent to the scalp will not be suppressed. If the total amount of components (A) and (B) exceeds 2.4%, there is a risk that the ease of use during application will be impaired and that the effectiveness of the hair coloring agent or perm agent will be impaired.

The mass ratio (A)/(B) of the contents of the component (A) and the component (B) used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but from the viewpoint of improving usability during application, it is preferably in the range of 0.6 to 1.67, and more preferably 0.78 to 1.29.

The scalp protection composition according to the present invention contains (C) a polyhydric alcohol in order to reduce scalp irritation during the use of hair coloring agents or perm agents.

The component (C) used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but examples include 1,3-butylene glycol, glycerin, ethylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, 1,2-pentanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, propylene glycol, diethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, etc., and the composition may contain one or more selected from these. Among these, (C1) 1,3-butylene glycol and (C2) glycerin and ethylene glycol are preferred from the viewpoint of reducing irritation to the scalp during use of a hair coloring agent or perm agent.

The combined use of the (C1) and (C2) components used in the present invention can reduce scalp irritation during use of a hair coloring agent or perm agent and improve the effectiveness of the hair coloring agent or perm agent.

The content of the component (C) used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but is preferably 5 to 15%, and more preferably 7.5 to 12.5%. If the component (C) is less than 5%, it may not be possible to prevent scalp irritation during use of the hair coloring agent or perm. If the component (C) is more than 15%, it may impair the effectiveness of the hair coloring agent or perm.

When the components (C1) and (C2) are used in combination in the present invention, the mass ratio (C1)/(C2) of their contents is not particularly limited, but from the viewpoint of reducing scalp irritation during use of a hair coloring agent or perm agent and improving the effectiveness of the hair coloring agent or perm agent, it is preferably in the range of 1 to 2.13, more preferably 1.22 to 1.86.

The scalp protection composition according to the present invention contains (D) ethanol in order to enhance the effects of the hair coloring agent or perm agent.

The content of the (D) component used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but is preferably 15 to 45%, and more preferably 20 to 40%. If the (D) component is less than 15%, it may impair usability during application and the effectiveness of the hair coloring or perm agent. If the (D) component is more than 45%, it may impair usability during application and the effectiveness of the hair coloring or perm agent, or it may not be possible to prevent scalp irritation during use of the hair coloring or perm agent.

The scalp protection composition according to the present invention contains an organic acid (E) from the viewpoint of stability over time.

The component (E) used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but examples include lactic acid, citric acid, oxalic acid, malic acid, succinic acid, etc., and one or more selected from these may be contained. Among these, from the viewpoint of improving stability over time, lactic acid and malic acid are preferred, and lactic acid is more preferred.

The content of component (E) used in the present invention is not particularly limited, but is preferably 0.01 to 0.1%, and more preferably 0.02 to 0.08%. If component (E) is less than 0.01% or exceeds 0.1%, stability over time may be impaired.

The appearance of the scalp protection composition according to the present invention is not particularly limited, but from the viewpoint of stability over time, it is preferable that it be transparent.

The scalp protection composition of the present invention can contain ingredients commonly used in cosmetics in addition to the above-mentioned ingredients, as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired. For example, oils such as higher alcohols and higher fatty acids, surfactants, moisturizers, antioxidants, UV absorbers, chelating agents, preservatives, antibacterial agents, protein derivatives, hydrolyzed proteins, amino acids, stabilizers, fragrances, animal and vegetable oils, vitamins, plant extracts, inorganic salts, etc. can be used, and one or more of these can be contained depending on the purpose.

The viscosity of the scalp protection composition of the present invention at 20°C is not particularly limited, but it is preferably 2,000 to 10,000 mPa·s.

In the present invention, the viscosity is measured by preparing the scalp protection composition using a conventional method, filling 120 g of the resulting composition into a sample bottle (Food 140: manufactured by Daiichi Glass Co., Ltd.), and measuring the viscosity using a Brookfield viscometer (model: Digital Viscometer TVB-10M, manufactured by Toki Sangyo Co., Ltd.) with an M4 rotor for 1 minute at a rotation speed of 30 rpm and at 20°C.

The pH of the scalp protection composition of the present invention at 20°C is not particularly limited, but is preferably 4.0 to 6.0.

In the present invention, the pH is adjusted by conventional methods, 120 g of the resulting scalp protection composition is filled into a sample bottle (Food 140: manufactured by Daiichi Glass Co., Ltd.), and the pH is measured at 20°C using a glass electrode hydrogen ion concentration indicator (F-71: manufactured by Horiba, Ltd.).

The formulation of the scalp protection composition according to the present invention is not particularly limited, but it is preferably a viscous liquid.

The method for using the scalp protection composition of the present invention is preferably to apply it to the entire dry scalp and hair, and then immediately thereafter use a hair colorant or perm agent according to the prescribed dosage and method without rinsing off the scalp protection composition.

The present invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to examples, but these examples are not intended to limit the present invention in any way.

In the evaluation tests described herein, the components contained in the scalp protection composition and their amounts were varied. The units used to indicate the content of each component are all % by mass. These compositions were prepared using standard methods, and the resulting scalp protection compositions were used in the evaluation tests.

The invention described in this specification was evaluated in terms of "ease of use during application," "irritation to the scalp while using the hair coloring agent or perm agent," "effects of the hair coloring agent or perm agent," and "stability over time."

In the evaluation tests presented in this specification, "usability upon application" was assessed by a comparative evaluation conducted by 20 expert panelists who applied 20 g of the resulting scalp protection composition to dry scalp and all over the hair.

In the evaluation tests presented in this specification, "scalp irritation during use of a hair coloring agent or perm agent" was evaluated by applying 20 g of the resulting scalp protection composition to the entire dry scalp and hair, and then immediately using the hair coloring agent or perm agent according to the prescribed dosage and method without rinsing off the scalp protection composition. A total of 20 expert panelists, 10 each, performed this process, and each test was compared and evaluated.

In the evaluation tests presented herein, the "effects of hair coloring or perming agents" were evaluated by applying 10 g of the resulting scalp protection composition to half of the dry hair of a hair test doll (Beaulux Co., Ltd.'s "Cutting Mannequin No. 775N"), and then immediately applying the hair coloring or perming agent to the entire hair according to the prescribed dosage and method without rinsing off the scalp protection composition. This process was carried out by a total of 20 expert panelists, 10 each, and each test was compared and evaluated.

The hair coloring agent is prepared by mixing the first and second hair coloring agents described in Formulation Example 1 in a 1:1 ratio, applying a total of 100g to the hair, leaving it for 20 minutes, rinsing with lukewarm water at 40°C, washing thoroughly with shampoo, wiping off the moisture with a towel, and drying with a hair dryer. The perm agent is prepared by applying 100g of the first perm agent described in Formulation Example 2 to the hair, leaving it for 15 minutes, rinsing with lukewarm water at 40°C, applying 100g of the second perm agent to the hair, leaving it for 15 minutes, rinsing with lukewarm water at 40°C, wiping off the moisture with a towel, and drying with a hair dryer.

In the evaluation tests described herein, "stability over time" was measured by filling 120 g of the resulting scalp protection composition into a sample bottle (Food 140: manufactured by Daiichi Glass Co., Ltd.) and visually inspecting the appearance after leaving it undisturbed in a thermostatic chamber at 5°C and 50°C for three months.

In the first evaluation test, scalp protecting compositions containing various types and amounts of (A) cationic thickener and (B) nonionic thickener were evaluated. Table 1 shows the components, amounts, and evaluation results of the scalp protecting compositions.

In Examples 1 to 11, good results were obtained even when the type and content of the (A) cationic thickener and the (B) nonionic thickener were varied.

In the second evaluation test, scalp protecting compositions containing various types and amounts of polyhydric alcohol (C) were evaluated. Table 2 shows the components, amounts, and evaluation results of the scalp protecting compositions.

In Examples 12 to 23, good results were obtained even when the type and content of the (C) polyhydric alcohol was varied.

In the third evaluation test, scalp protecting compositions containing various amounts of (D) ethanol were evaluated. Table 3 shows the components, amounts, and evaluation results of the scalp protecting compositions.

In Examples 24 to 28, good results were obtained even when the content of (D) ethanol was varied.

In the fourth evaluation test, scalp protecting compositions containing various types and amounts of (E) organic acid were evaluated. Table 4 shows the components, amounts, and evaluation results of the scalp protecting compositions.

In Examples 29 to 34, good results were obtained even when the type and content of the (E) organic acid was varied.

Examples 35 and 36 are shown below. The scalp protection compositions obtained in Examples 35 and 36 showed favorable results in terms of "ease of use during application," "scalp irritation during use of a hair coloring agent or perm," "effects of the hair coloring agent or perm," and "stability over time."

The present invention provides a scalp protection composition that is easy to use when applied, reduces irritation to the scalp during use of a hair coloring agent or perm agent, does not impair the effectiveness of the hair coloring agent or perm agent, and is highly stable over time.

Claims (3)

A scalp protecting composition to be used before using a hair coloring agent or a perm agent,
(A) one or more selected from O-[2-hydroxy-3-(trimethylammonio)propyl]hydroxyethylcellulose chloride and O-[2-hydroxy-3-(trimethylammonio)propyl]guar gum chloride ;
(B) one or more selected from hydroxyethyl cellulose and hydroxypropyl cellulose ;
(C) one or more selected from 1,3-butylene glycol, glycerin, and ethylene glycol ;
(D) ethanol,
(E) one or more selected from lactic acid and malic acid ;
a total content of the component (A) and the component (B) of 0.8 to 2.4% by mass, a content of the component (C) of 5 to 15% by mass, a content of the component (D) of 15 to 45% by mass, a content of the component (E) of 0.01 to 0.1% by mass, and a mass ratio (A)/(B) of the contents of the component (A) and the component (B) of 0.6 to 1.67 . The scalp protecting composition according to claim 1, characterized in that the component (C) contains (C1) 1,3-butylene glycol and (C2) glycerin, and the mass ratio (C1)/(C2) of the contents of the component (C1) and the component (C2) is 1 to 2.13. A method for applying the scalp protecting composition according to claim 1 to the entire dry scalp and hair, and then using a hair colorant or perm agent immediately thereafter without rinsing off the scalp protecting composition.
