Description

The present invention relates to an aromatic liquid that is impregnated into a liquid-absorbing member and evaporated, and is used in a vaporizer in which the aromatic liquid is not supplied to the liquid-absorbing member during use, and the aromatic liquid has a high average evaporation rate during use and is unlikely to produce a difference in fragrance strength between the early and later stages of use. The present invention also relates to a vaporizer that uses the aromatic liquid.

Traditionally, aromatic liquids containing fragrances have been widely used to eliminate unpleasant odors inside cars and rooms and create a comfortable space.

Conventionally, various types of volatilizers that volatilize aromatic liquid have been developed. A typical volatilizer is one that stores aromatic liquid in a container and has a liquid absorbing member that sucks up the stored aromatic liquid and volatilizes it. In this type of volatilizer, the aromatic liquid stored in the container is continuously supplied to the volatilizer during use, so the fragrance released tends to be maintained at a constant level from early to later periods of use. However, because the aromatic liquid is stored in a container, this type of volatilizer has the disadvantage that when installed inside a car, the aromatic liquid in the container is easily spilled due to shaking when driving on rough roads, etc.

In addition, as a type of volatilizer that can prevent the spillage of aromatic liquid, a type has been proposed in which the opening of a container that holds the aromatic liquid is covered with a gas-permeable membrane, and the aromatic liquid is volatilized through the membrane (see, for example, Patent Document 1). However, this type of volatilizer has the disadvantage that it cannot accommodate a wide range of user preferences, since the composition of the aromatic liquid that can be volatilized through the membrane is limited.

On the other hand, there is a type of volatilizer that contains only a liquid-absorbing member impregnated with aromatic liquid in a container, and volatilizes the aromatic liquid without supplying aromatic liquid to the liquid-absorbing member during use. In this type of volatilizer, all of the aromatic liquid is impregnated in the liquid-absorbing member, so there is no need to worry about the aromatic liquid in the container spilling due to shaking, etc., and it is designed to be ideal for use inside a car. However, this type of volatilizer has the disadvantage that the evaporation rate of the aromatic liquid tends to decrease over time of use, making it difficult to maintain a constant fragrance intensity from the early to late stages of use. Furthermore, if an aromatic liquid that is difficult to volatilize is used, it is possible to keep the fragrance intensity constant to a certain extent from the early to late stages of use, but the average evaporation rate during the period of use will be slower, and as a result, the fragrance intensity will be weaker and the aromatic effect achieved throughout the entire period of use will tend to be insufficient.

The object of the present invention is to provide an aromatic liquid that is used in a vaporizer that is impregnated into a liquid-absorbing member and vaporized, and that does not supply aromatic liquid to the liquid-absorbing member during use, and that has a high average vaporization rate during use and is unlikely to cause a difference in fragrance strength between the early and later stages of use.

The present inventors have conducted extensive research to solve the above problems, and have found that, when an aromatic liquid containing a fragrance and a solvent, which has a residual rate (R) of 50% or less after 144 hours under specific test conditions described below, and a value obtained by subtracting the rate of weight loss ( V2 ) from the rate of weight loss ( V1 ) during 0 to 24 hours is 1.000 g/day or less, is impregnated into a liquid-absorbing member and evaporated by a vaporizer that does not supply aromatic liquid to the liquid-absorbing member during use, the average evaporation rate during the period of use is high, and furthermore, the weakening of the fragrance intensity in the latter period of use can be suppressed, and the fragrance intensity is less likely to differ between the early and later periods of use. The present invention was completed based on this knowledge and through further research.

By using paraffinic hydrocarbons that satisfy the above-mentioned vapor pressure range as well as the above-mentioned initial boiling point range, the weight loss characteristics described above can be more suitably satisfied, and it becomes possible to maintain the desired strength of the aroma from the early to the later stages of use in a much more effective manner.

The paraffinic hydrocarbon that satisfies the above vapor pressure range may be either isoparaffin or normal paraffin, but isoparaffin is preferred.

When a paraffinic hydrocarbon satisfying the above-mentioned vapor pressure range is used as the solvent in the aromatic liquid of the present invention, other solvents may be contained together with the paraffinic hydrocarbon, but from the viewpoint of suitably satisfying the weight loss characteristics described above, the paraffinic hydrocarbon satisfying the above-mentioned vapor pressure range should account for 40 parts by weight or more, preferably 60 parts by weight or more, more preferably 80 parts by weight or more, even more preferably 90 parts by weight or more, and particularly preferably 100 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the total amount of solvent.

In addition to the above-mentioned components, the aromatic liquid of the present invention may contain other additives, as long as the above-mentioned weight loss characteristics are satisfied. Examples of such other additives include thickeners, preservatives, antioxidants, ultraviolet absorbers, colorants, etc.

[Volatilizer]
The aromatic liquid of the present invention is used in a manner in which the aromatic liquid is evaporated while impregnated into the liquid-absorbing member, using a volatilizer that does not supply aromatic liquid to the liquid-absorbing member during use.

The liquid-absorbing member that is impregnated with the aromatic liquid of the present invention and volatilizes it is not particularly limited as long as it can absorb and volatilize the aromatic liquid of the present invention. Examples of the liquid-absorbing member include fibrous materials such as natural fibers such as cotton, vegetable fibers, and pulp, synthetic fibers such as rayon, polyester, and polyethylene terephthalate, and mixtures thereof; wood materials such as wood chips, rattan, bamboo, and sora; and resin sponge materials such as urethane foam. In addition, when the volatilization member is made of a fibrous material, it is preferably a liquid-absorbent felt or nonwoven fabric, but woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, etc. may also be used. There are no particular limitations on the shape of the volatilization member, and it may be in the form of a sheet, block, rod, strip, string, etc.

The size of the liquid-absorbing member may be appropriately set depending on the space in which it is used, and may be, for example, about 1 to 20 cm 3. In particular, when the aromatic liquid of the present invention is used inside a car, about 1 to 20 cm 3 is preferable, about 2 to 10 cm 3 is more preferable, and about 4 to 8 cm 3 is even more preferable.

The amount of the aromatic liquid of the present invention with which the liquid-absorbing member is impregnated may be appropriately set depending on the type of liquid-absorbing member used. For example, the amount of the liquid-absorbing member impregnated may be 0.05 to 2 ml, preferably 0.1 to 1.0 ml, and more preferably 0.3 to 0.7 ml per 1 cm3 of the liquid-absorbing member.

The volatilizer for evaporating the aromatic liquid of the present invention may have a structure in which a liquid-absorbing member impregnated with the aromatic liquid of the present invention is housed in a container having an opening. In the volatilizer for evaporating the aromatic liquid of the present invention, aromatic liquid is not supplied to the liquid-absorbing member during use (while the aromatic liquid is evaporating), so the aromatic liquid in the container is not stored in a state where it is not impregnated in the liquid-absorbing member, but exists only in a state where it is impregnated in the liquid-absorbing member.

[Provision mode]
The aromatic liquid of the present invention may be provided as a set with a container and a liquid-absorbing member which are components of the volatilizer, or may be provided as a refill aromatic liquid, either alone or in a set with a liquid-absorbing member.

[Application]
The aromatic liquid of the present invention is used to impart fragrance to spaces such as the interior of a car and living spaces (living room, entrance, toilet, etc.). The aromatic liquid of the present invention exists in a state where the entire liquid is impregnated in the liquid absorbing member in the volatilizer, and does not spill out of the volatilizer even if it is vibrated or shaken, so it is particularly suitable for use in the interior of a car. In addition, the temperature inside a car changes greatly, and in the case of an aromatic liquid that volatilizes while sucking up the chemical solution stored in the volatilizer with the liquid absorbing member, the air in the head space in the volatilizer expands when the temperature rises, and the aromatic liquid may spray out and soil the surroundings. However, the aromatic liquid of the present invention exists in a state where the entire liquid is impregnated in the liquid absorbing member in the volatilizer, so the aromatic liquid almost never sprays out of the volatilizer. From this point of view, the aromatic liquid of the present invention can be said to be suitable for use in the interior of a car.

Test Example 1
The aromatic liquids shown in Table 1 were prepared, and the weight loss rates of the liquid-absorbent members impregnated with the aromatic liquids were measured. Specifically, under the following test conditions, the residual rate after 144 hours (R), the weight loss rate from 0 to 24 hours (V 1 ), and the weight loss rate from 120 to 144 hours (V 2 ) were measured, and the value (V 1 -V 2 ) was calculated by subtracting the weight loss rate from 0 to 24 hours (V 1 ) from the weight loss rate from 120 to 144 hours (V 2 ).
(1) A rectangular liquid-absorbent member (liquid-absorbent felt; length 40 mm, width 18 mm, thickness 5 mm, density 0.12 g/ m3 , composite fiber material of 80% by weight polyethylene terephthalate and 20% by weight rayon; product name "E-6H", manufactured by Yoneshima Felt Sangyo Co., Ltd.) was placed on a plate and impregnated with 3.5 mL of aromatic liquid. The material was then left to stand at a temperature of 40°C in a room (a room of approximately 10 tatami mats) away from direct sunlight.
(2) At the start of leaving the liquid-absorbent member, and 24 hours, 120 hours, and 144 hours after leaving the liquid-absorbent member, the weight of the plate on which the liquid-absorbent member was placed was measured, and the weight of the plate and the liquid-absorbent member (not impregnated with aromatic liquid) was subtracted to determine the weight of the aromatic liquid impregnated in the liquid-absorbent member.
(3) The remaining rate after 144 hours R, the weight loss rate from 0 to 24 hours V 1 , and the weight loss rate from 120 to 144 hours V 2 were calculated according to the following formulas.
R(%)=(weight of aromatic liquid after 144 hours from the start of standing still/weight of aromatic liquid at the start of standing still)×100
V 1 (g/day)=weight of the aromatic liquid at the start of standing still−weight of the aromatic liquid 24 hours after starting to stand still, and V 2 (g/day)=weight of the aromatic liquid 120 hours after starting to stand still−weight of the aromatic liquid 144 hours after starting to stand still.

In addition, in the above test, the fragrance strength at the start of the test and the difference in fragrance strength between the start of the test and 144 hours later were evaluated by one expert panelist trained in fragrance evaluation according to the following criteria.

<Scent strength at the start of the test>

<Difference in scent intensity between the start of the test and 144 hours later>
○: The fragrance strength after 144 hours is slightly weaker than at the start of the test, but there is no significant difference in fragrance strength between the start of the test and 144 hours later.
×: The strength of the fragrance after 144 hours is clearly weaker than at the start of the test, and a large difference in fragrance strength can be felt between the start of the test and 144 hours later.

The results are shown in Table 1. In the fragrance liquids of Comparative Examples 1 and 2, the value (V 1 -V 2 ) was 1.000 g/day or less, and the difference in the rate of loss of the fragrance liquid between the early period of use (up to 24 hours) and the later period of use (from 120 hours to 144 hours) was small, and the weakening of the fragrance in the later period of use was suppressed, but the residual rate (R) after 144 hours exceeded 50%, and the average evaporation rate during the period of use (i.e., the average amount of fragrance evaporated per unit time) was low. In the fragrance liquids of Comparative Examples 3 and 4, the residual rate (R) after 144 hours was 50% or less, and the average evaporation rate during the period of use was high, but the value (V 1 -V 2 ) exceeded 1.000 g/day, and there was a strong tendency for the fragrance to weaken in the later period of use compared to the early period of use. In contrast, the fragrance liquid of Example 1 had a residual rate (R) of 50% or less after 144 hours, a high average evaporation rate during the period of use, and a value ( V1 - V2 ) of 1.000 g/day or less. The difference in the rate of loss of the fragrance liquid between the early and later periods of use was small, and the weakening of the scent in the later periods of use was suppressed.
