Description
Claims (13)
- 導波路ディスプレイ要素であって、
導波路層と、
前記導波路層に配置される入力結合格子と、
前記入力結合格子の異なる側の2つの第1の反射格子又は第1の射出瞳拡大器格子と、
を備え、
前記入力結合格子は、反対の回折次数を用いて入射光を前記導波路層内に前記異なる側に対応する2つの別々の方向に結合し、前記入射光の視野を分割するように構成され、前記入射光の前記結合は、前記入力結合格子が可視波長範囲内にある閾値波長未満の波長のみで起こるように構成され、前記入力結合格子は、前記閾値波長超の波長の前記導波路層内への結合を防止するのに十分短い周期を有し、
前記導波路ディスプレイ要素は、
それぞれ前記2つの第1の反射格子又は第1の射出瞳拡大器格子からの光を受け取るように構成される少なくとも1つの第2の射出瞳拡大器格子と、
前記少なくとも1つの第2の射出瞳拡大器格子からの光を受け取るように構成される単一の出力結合格子と、
をさらに備え、
前記第2の射出瞳拡大器格子からの光が前記単一の出力結合格子を回折せずに通過できるように、前記入力結合格子の格子ベクトル、前記第1の反射格子又は前記第1の射出瞳拡大器格子の格子ベクトル及び前記少なくとも1つの第2の射出瞳拡大器格子の格子ベクトルが構成される、導波路ディスプレイ要素。 - 前記閾値波長は、500~540nm、620~660nm、510~530nm、630~650nm、520nm、および640nmから選択される、請求項1に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記導波路層は、1.8より高い屈折率、または1.9~2.1の屈折率を有する、請求項1又は2に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 単一の第2の射出瞳拡大器格子を備える、請求項1に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記出力結合格子の異なる側に2つの第2の射出瞳拡大器格子を備える、請求項1に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記第2の射出瞳拡大器格子は、前記第1の射出瞳拡大器格子から見られると、前記出力結合格子の反対側に延在する、請求項5に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記光の少なくとも一部は、前記出力結合格子が位置する前記導波路層の領域を介して、前記第1の射出瞳拡大器格子から前記第2の射出瞳拡大器格子まで進行し、前記出力結合格子にさらに戻るように構成される、請求項5又は6に記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 前記入力結合格子は、1次のプラス及び1次のマイナスの回折次数を用いて、前記導波路層内に光を結合するように構成される、請求項1から7のいずれかに記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素。
- 回折ディスプレイ用の導波路スタックであって、前記導波路スタックは、少なくとも2つの導波路層を備え、前記導波路層の少なくとも1つは、請求項1から8のいずれかに記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素である、導波路スタック。
- 少なくとも3つの導波路層を備え、前記少なくとも3つの導波路層のうちの少なくとも2つは、請求項1から8のいずれかに記載のものであり、異なる閾値波長を有する、請求項9に記載の導波路スタック。
- 前記導波路層の第1は、第1の閾値波長未満の光のみを第1の導波路層に結合するように構成される第1の入力結合格子を備え、
前記導波路層の第2は、前記第1の閾値波長超の第2の閾値波長未満の光のみを第2の導波路層に結合するように構成される第2の入力結合格子を備え、
第3の導波路層は、前記第2の閾値波長超の光を第3の導波路層に結合するように構成される入力結合格子を備え、
前記導波路スタックは、
前記第1及び前記第2の導波路層の間に配置され、前記第2の入力結合格子に入射する前記第1の閾値波長未満の波長を防止するように構成される第1の波長フィルタ要素と、
前記第2及び前記第3の導波路層の間に配置され、第3の入力結合格子に入射する前記第2の閾値波長未満の波長を防止するように構成される第2の波長フィルタ要素と、
をさらに備える、請求項10に記載の導波路スタック。 - 前記第1及び/又は第2の波長フィルタ要素は、反射フィルタ又は吸収フィルタである、請求項11に記載の導波路スタック。
- 透明のディスプレイ・デバイスであって、
請求項1から8のいずれかに記載の導波路ディスプレイ要素又は請求項9から12のいずれかに記載の導波路スタックと、
前記入力結合格子において方向付けられ、前記閾値波長超の波長及び前記閾値波長未満の波長の両方を備える多色画像を提示することができる導波路ディスプレイ・イメージ・プロジェクタと、
を備える、透明のディスプレイ・デバイス。
