Description
本明細書中の記述の多くはリチウム-イオウバッテリーに関係しているが、本明細書に記載されている複合層は、他のアルカリ金属ベースのバッテリー等、他のリチウムベースバッテリーに応用し得るということを理解されたい。
粒子は化学的に安定である。
本実施例は、実施例2および3における複合層を形成するのに使用されたポリマー材料および多数の粒子を含んでいる複合層の一般的製造スキームを記載している。複合層は、液体電解質、または電解質中の種から電極を保護するのに使用することができる。
本実施例は、実施例1において概説されているように、複合層の製造を記述している。

Claims (24)
- 電気活性材料を含有する電気活性層;
該電気活性層に隣接する複合層よりなる電気化学セルに使用する電極であって、該複合層
は、ポリマー材料および該ポリマー材料内に埋め込まれている多数の粒子よりなり、該多
数の粒子は該複合層内のポリマー材料の平均厚さより大きな最大断面寸法を有し、該多数
の粒子の少なくとも一部は電気活性層に直接接触し少なくとも部分的に埋め込まれており
、そして該複合層は電気活性材料のイオンに対して伝導性がある、上記電極。 - 電気活性材料を含有する電気活性層;
該電気活性層に隣接する第1の表面および第2の表面を有する複合層、該複合層はポリ
マー材料を含有している;および
該複合層のポリマー材料内に埋め込まれている多数の粒子
よりなる電気化学セルに使用する電極であって、
該多数の粒子の少なくとも一部は、該複合層の第1の表面で該電気活性層と直接接触し
少なくとも部分的に埋め込まれており、そして、該多数の粒子の少なくとも一部は、該複
合層の第2の表面で露出しており、そして
該複合層は電気活性材料のイオンに対して伝導性がある、
上記電極。 - 前記電気活性材料がリチウムよりなる、請求項1〜2いずれかに記載の電極。
- 前記電気活性材料が少なくとも1ミクロンの表面粗さを有する、請求項1〜3いずれか
に記載の電極。 - 前記ポリマー材料がイオン伝導性ポリマーよりなる、請求項1〜請求項4いずれかに記
載の電極。 - 前記ポリマー材料が非イオン伝導性ポリマーよりなる、請求項1〜請求項4いずれかに
記載の電極。 - 前記ポリマー材料が、10−8S/cm未満の電解質中におけるイオン伝導性を有する
、請求項1〜請求項5いずれかに記載の電極。 - 前記多数の粒子のそれぞれの一部が、複合層の第1の表面で電気活性層と直接接触して
いる第1の部分、および複合層の第2の表面で露出している第2の部分よりなる、請求項
1〜請求項7にいずれかに記載の電極。 - 前記多数の粒子が、ポリマー材料の厚さより大きい最長断面寸法を有する、請求項1〜
請求項8いずれかに記載の電極。 - 前記多数の粒子が、少なくとも500nmの最小断面寸法を有する、請求項1〜請求項
9いずれかに記載の電極。 - 前記多数の粒子が、無機材料よりなる、請求項1〜請求項10いずれかに記載の電極。
- 前記多数の粒子が、アルミニウムオキサイド、シリコンオキサイド、リチウムオキサイ
ド、Li10MP2S12(式中、Mは、Sn、Ge、またはSiである)、ガーネット
型イオン伝導性セラミック、他のイオン伝導性無機材料およびそれらの混合物から選択さ
れる材料よりなる、請求項1〜請求項11いずれかに記載の電極。 - 前記無機材料が、セラミックである、請求項12に記載の電極。
- 前記多数の粒子がイオン伝導性材料よりなる、請求項1〜請求項13いずれかに記載の
電極。 - 前記多数の粒子が少なくとも10−5S/cmのイオン伝導性を有する、請求項1〜請
求項14いずれかに記載の電極。 - 前記多数の粒子が10−10S/cm未満の電子伝導性を有する、請求項1〜請求項1
5いずれかに記載の電極。 - 前記多数の粒子が非多孔性である、請求項1〜請求項16いずれかに記載の電極。
- 前記多数の粒子が、該多数の粒子の表面に結合した架橋性ポリマーを有する、請求項1
〜請求項17いずれかに記載の電極。 - 複合層における前記多数の粒子に占められる容積が、全複合層の容積の10容量%以上
である、請求項1〜請求項18いずれかに記載の電極。 - 前記複合層が、少なくとも10−10S/cm、少なくとも10−8S/cm、または
、少なくとも10−5S/cmの総括イオン伝導性を有する、請求項1〜請求項19いず
れかに記載の電極。 - 請求項1〜請求項20いずれかに記載の電極よりなる電気化学セル。
- 前記電気化学セルが、リチウム-イオウ電気化学セルである、請求項21記載の電気化
学セル。 - 電気活性材料よりなる電気活性層の表面をポリマー材料でコーティングすること;
前記ポリマー材料の表面の少なくとも一部上に多数の粒子を配置すること;
前記多数の粒子に外圧を印加し、該多数の粒子の少なくとも一部をポリマー材料中に埋
め込み、それにより複合層を形成すること;
よりなる、電極を製造する方法であって、
前記多数の粒子の少なくとも一部が、電気活性層と直接接触し少なくとも部分的に埋め込
まれており、そして前記複合層が電気活性材料のイオンに対して伝導性である、該方法。 - 前記外圧が10kg/cm2より大きい、請求項23に記載の方法。
