Description
(1)撹拌機、窒素ガス吹き込み口、温度センサー、加熱冷却装置、コンデンサーがついた重合容器に、「PLEX6844−0」(N−(2−メタクリロイルオキシエチル)エチレンウレアを25重量%含有するメタクリル酸メチル溶液、evonik−degussa社の製品)、メタクリル酸メチルの所定量、「AMSD−GRU」(α−メチルスチレンダイマー、五井化成(株)社の製品、2,4−ジフェニル−4−メチル−1−ペンテン含有量99.0%以上)の所定量、「パーブチル O」(t−ブチルパーオキシ−2−エチルヘキサノエート、日油(株)社の製品)を「AMSD−GRU」1.0モルに対して0.025〜0.200モルの範囲で仕込む。
(2)窒素ガスでバブリングする。反応液の酸素濃度が5ppm未満になったら、窒素ガスを吹き込みに変える。
(3)昇温を開始し、75℃まで約30分で昇温する。75℃で2時間重合を行う。
(4)昇温を開始し、82℃まで約30分で昇温する。82℃で重合率が約90%になるまで重合を行う。所要時間は約60分間である。
(5)冷却を開始し、アクリルポリマー濃度が約75%になるようメタクリル酸メチルの所定量を添加する。
(6)60℃まで冷却し、抜き出しを行って、アクリルシラップを製造する。
JIS K 5407:1997にしたがって140℃で60分間加熱残分を測定し、これを重合率とした。
重量平均分子量(以下、Mwとも言う)、数平均分子量(以下、Mnとも言う)、分子量分布(以下、dとも言う)=Mw/Mnは、東ソー(株)の「HLC−8220 GPC」システムで測定した。
ティー・エイ・インスツルメント(株)社製示差走査熱量計「DSC Q10」を使用し、窒素雰囲気下で、一挙に90℃に昇温し、90℃をキープし、発熱がピークに達するまでの時間(分)を求めた。時間が短い方が硬化性は良好である。
アクリルシラップ20gを、「マゼルスター」(クラボウ(株)の撹拌・脱泡装置)で脱泡した後、50mLガラスビーカーにいれ、アルミフォイルで蓋をして、85℃で30分間加熱した。ガラスビーカーを壊して硬化物を取り出し、ガラスビーカーに接した平滑な面を使用し、JIS K 5400:1997にしたがって鉛筆硬度を測定した。鉛筆硬度が高いほど表面硬度は高く、耐傷つき製が良好である。鉛筆硬度3H以上で合格とした。
500mLマヨネーズ瓶にアクリルシラップ300gをとり、密栓して、23℃で1ヶ月間静置した。1ヶ月静置後の重量平均分子量/試験開始時の重量平均分子量求め、変化が20%以内であれば貯蔵安定性は良好(○)、変化が20%を越える場合は貯蔵安定性が不良(×)とした。
アクリルシラップ20gを、「マゼルスター」(クラボウ(株)の撹拌・脱泡装置)で脱泡した後、50mLガラスビーカーにいれ、アルミフォイルで蓋をして、85℃で30分間加熱した。ガラスビーカーを壊して硬化物を取り出し、ガラスビーカーに接した平滑な面をアセトンでこすり、透明性がなくなるかどうか、艶がなくなるかどうかを目視で評価した。透明性、艶が全く変化しないものを耐溶剤性が良好(○)、透明性が損なわれるもの、または、艶がなくなるものは耐溶剤性が不良(×)とした。
アクリルポリマーにメタクリル酸メチルを加えて、加熱残分が15±2%になるよう調節する。希釈したアクリルポリマーを25mLガラス製試験管に5mL採り、10分間、窒素ガスバブリングを行った後、シリコン栓で密栓した。
実施例1のアクリルシラップであるAP−1の製造
窒素ガス吹き込み口、撹拌機、温度計がついた300mL4つ口フラスコに、メタクリル酸メチル99.0g、N−(2−メタクリロイルオキシエチル)エチレンウレア1.0g、α−メチルスチレンダイマー5.46g、t−ブチルパーオキシ−2−エチルヘキサノエート0.250g(α−メチルスチレンダイマーを1.0モルとしたとき、0.050モル)を仕込み、窒素ガスでバブリングを10分間行った。この後、窒素ガスは吹き込みに変更した。
実施例2〜6のアクリルシラップAP−2〜AP−6の製造
表1に示すとおり仕込み組成を変える以外はアクリルシラップAP−1と同様にして実施例2〜6のアクリルシラップAP−2〜AP−6を製造した。
実施例7〜11のアクリルシラップAP−7〜AP−11の製造
表2に示すとおり仕込み組成を変える以外はアクリルシラップAP−1と同様にして実施例のアクリルシラップAP−7〜AP−11を製造した。
比較例1〜4のアクリルシラップAP−12〜AP−15の製造
表3に示すとおり仕込み組成を変える以外はアクリルシラップAP−1と同様にして比較例のアクリルシラップAP−12〜AP−15の製造を試みた。表3にアクリルシラップAP−12〜AP−15の製造条件、特性値などを示した。アクリルシラップAP−12は製造時間をかけたにも係わらず、α−メチルスチレンダイマーの使用量に対し、重合開始剤の使用量が少なすぎるため、アクリルシラップとして使用するための十分な重合率が得られなかった。アクリルシラップAP−13は、α−メチルスチレンダイマーの使用量に対し、重合開始剤の使用量が多すぎるため、製造途中に大きい発熱が頻繁に起こり、重合温度制御ができなかった。アクリルシラップAP−14製造中は、急激で大きい発熱は見られず、温度制御は容易で、安全に製造できた。アクリルシラップAP−15はN−(2−メタクリロイルオキシエチル)エチレンウレアの使用量が多すぎたため、アクリルシラップ製造途中でゲル化したため、製造できなかった。アクリルシラップAP−14を用いた比較例5、比較例6については、後で記載する。
表4に、実施例12〜19のアクリルシラップAS−1〜AS−8の組成、試験結果を、表5に、実施例20〜24のアクリルシラップAS−9〜AS−13の組成、試験結果を、表6に、実施例25〜28のアクリルシラップAS−14〜AS−17の組成、試験結果を示した。実施例12〜19では、アクリルシラップAP−1〜6を使用した。実施例20〜24では、アクリルシラップAP−7〜11を使用した。実施例25〜28では、アクリルシラップAP−3を使用した。表4、表5、表6に見られるとおり、実施例12〜28のアクリルシラップAS−1〜AS−17は、貯蔵安定性、硬化性、硬度、耐溶剤性、強靱性の全ての項目で優れた性能を発揮した。
表7に、比較例のアクリルシラップAP−14を応用した比較例5、比較例6のアクリルシラップAS−18、AS−19の組成、試験結果を示した。
