Description
(a)第一のアドレス可能なサブピクセルと、前記第一のサブピクセルから独立してアドレス可能な第二のサブピクセルとを備え、前記第一のサブピクセルおよび前記第二のサブピクセルのそれぞれが電気泳動粒子を備え、アドレス時に、白、黒、赤、緑、青、シアン、マゼンタ、および黄からなるグループから選択された3色以上を表示できる、フルカラーピクセルを備えるディスプレイ(特に、図1Dおよび本公開出願の段落[0087]を参照);
(b)粒子の監視者から反対側に配置されている着色された反射体またはフィルターを覆うかまたはさらけ出すよう、粒子が横方向に移動するディスプレイ(特に、図@a‐2Dおよび3A〜3E、ならびに段落[0088]〜[0097]を参照);
(c)異なる色を有する2つの異なる種類の粒子を有し、それによりディスプレイの各ピクセルが、(i)第一の種類の粒子の色;(ii)第二の種類の粒子の色;または(iii)粒子の監視者から反対側に配置されている反射体またはフィルターの色、を表示できるという点を除き、上記(b)にて述べたものと概して同様のディスプレイ(図3F〜3I、および段落[0098]〜[0101]を参照);
(d)粒子が懸濁している懸濁流体が着色され、反射体またはフィルターが省略され、それにより、懸濁流体の色が監視者に見える場合に第三の着色された状態が発生する、という点を除き、上記(c)にて述べたものと概して同様のディスプレイ(段落[0103]の図3Lを参照);および、
(e)異なる色を有する、異なる3種類の粒子を有するディスプレイ(図3M、5、6A〜6B、7A〜7Dおよび8A〜8C、ならびに段落[0103]〜[0113]を参照)
を含む。
Claims (10)
- 複数のピクセル電極を有するバックプレーンと、
該バックプレーンに隣接して配置された接着層と、
該接着層に隣接する固体電気光学媒体の層と
を備える電気光学ディスプレイであって、
該接着層が、該バックプレーンの該ピクセル電極に隣接して配置された複数のピクセル領域と、該バックプレーンの2つのピクセル間に配置された少なくとも1つのピクセル間領域とを備え、該少なくとも1つのピクセル間領域が、該接着層の該ピクセル領域よりも低い誘電率および高い体積抵抗率のうちの少なくとも1つを有し、該少なくとも1つのピクセル間領域が、該ピクセル領域を形成する材料とは異なる材料から形成される少なくとも1つのリブを備え、該少なくとも1つのリブが、該バックプレーンから離れた該少なくとも1つのリブの端部が該接着層に覆われるように、該接着層を完全に貫通しては延びないことを特徴とする、電気光学ディスプレイ。 - 前記少なくとも1つのリブが、3未満の誘電率を有する、請求項1に記載の電気光学ディスプレイ。
- 前記少なくとも1つのリブが、1012ohm cmよりも大きな体積抵抗率を有する、請求項1に記載の電気光学ディスプレイ。
- 前記少なくとも1つのリブが、少なくとも0.5のアスペクト比を有する、請求項1に記載の電気光学ディスプレイ。
- 前記少なくとも1つのリブが、少なくとも1.0のアスペクト比を有する、請求項4に記載の電気光学ディスプレイ。
- 前記少なくとも1つのリブが、少なくとも2.0のアスペクト比を有する、請求項5に記載の電気光学ディスプレイ。
- 前記電気光学媒体が、複数の荷電粒子を備えた電気泳動電気光学媒体を備え、該粒子は、懸濁流体内にあり、該懸濁流体に電場を印加することによって該懸濁流体を介して移動が可能である、請求項1に記載の電気光学ディスプレイ。
- 前記懸濁流体が気体である、請求項7に記載の電気光学ディスプレイ。
- 前記荷電粒子と前記懸濁流体が、複数のカプセルまたはマイクロセルに閉じ込められている、請求項7に記載の電気光学ディスプレイ。
- 前記電気光学媒体が、回転二色部材または電気泳動媒体を含む、請求項1に記載の電気光学ディスプレイ。
