Description
まず、図1を参照して本実施形態にかかる電極について説明する。電極10は、集電体12上に活物質含有層14が設けられた物である。
このような電極は、以下のようにして製造できる。すなわち、活物質粒子5、バインダー、必要な量の導電助剤、及び必要な量のセラミクス粒子6を、N−メチル−2−ピロリドン、N,N−ジメチルホルムアミド等の溶媒に添加したスラリーを、集電体12の表面に塗布し、乾燥させる工程を2回行う。ここでは、下層部14aを形成するために塗布するスラリーの活物質粒子5に対するセラミクス粒子6の濃度を、その後に表層部14bを形成するために塗布するスラリーの活物質粒子5に対するセラミクス粒子6の濃度よりも低くする。その後、電極をロールプレス等のプレス機でプレスする。プレス時の線圧は例えば、200〜2000kgf/cmとすることができる。プレス工程は、下層部14a形成後に下層部14aのみを単独でプレスし、その後に表層部14bを形成しその後表層部14bをプレスしてもよく、下層部14aの上に表層部14bを形成した後に両層を同時にプレスしてもよい。また、プレス時の線圧は、下層部14aと表層部14bとで互いに同じであってもよいし、異なっていてもよい。例えば、下層部14aを形成後、500kgf/cm程度の線圧で下層部14aのプレスを行った後、表層部14bを形成し、1000kgf/cm程度の線圧で表層部14bのプレスを行うことができる。また、下層部14aを形成後、表層部14bを形成し、その後1000kgf/cm程度の線圧で両層同時にプレスを行ってもよい。
(作用・効果)
続いて、本発明にかかる電気化学デバイスの一例を説明する。図3は、リチウムイオン二次電池の一例である。
負極集電体としての銅箔(厚さ:20μm)上に、活物質粒子としての黒鉛粉末(平均粒径24μm、100重量部)と、バインダとしてのPVDF(10重量部)と、導電助剤としてのアセチレンブラック(5重量部)とを、N−メチル−2−ピロリドンに混合したスラリーを塗布し、乾燥させて下層部を68μm形成した。その後、活物質粒子としての黒鉛粉末(平均粒径24μm、100重量部)と、セラミクス粒子としてのアルミナ粉(平均粒径12μm:5重量部)、バインダとしてのPVDF(8重量部)と、導電助剤としてのアセチレンブラック(5重量部)とを、N−メチル−2−ピロリドンに混合したスラリーを下層部上に塗布し、乾燥させて表層部を33μm形成した。その後、負極を、熱ロールで線圧300kgf/cmでプレスすることにより負極を製造した。なお、プレスは下層膜をプレス加工した後、上層膜を塗布し、再度プレス加工を実施した。
表層部における活物質粒子100重量部に対するセラミクス粒子の含有量を順に、13、25、53、72、83重量部とする以外は実施例1と同様にして電極を製造した。
表層部の厚みを、順に、42、56、64μmとする以外は実施例2と同様にして電極を製造した。
下層部を形成せず、表層部を100μm形成する以外は実施例2と同様にした。

(比較例3)
表層部の厚みを、24μmとする以外は実施例2と同様にして電極を製造した。
セラミクス粒子の粒径を順に、2.1、2.7、15、20、24、28μmとする以外は実施例2と同様にして電極を製造した。
セラミクス粒子として、順に、シリカ粒子(平均粒径12.5μm)、ジルコニア粒子(平均粒径14μm)を用いる以外は実施例2と同様にして電極を製造した。
アルミニウム製の集電体に対して、活物質粒子(LiCoO2、100重量部)、バインダー(PVdF、5重量部)、及び導電助剤(アセチレンブラック、6重量部)を含む活物質層を形成した正極を作成し、セパレータとしてポリオレフィン系セパレータを用い、電解液としてLiPF6を用い、リチウムイオン二次電池を作成した。
Claims (5)
- 集電体と、
前記集電体上に設けられた活物質粒子及びセラミクス粒子を含有する活物質含有層と、
を備え、
前記活物質含有層における前記集電体とは反対側の表層部における前記活物質粒子に対する前記セラミクス粒子の重量濃度は、前記活物質含有層における前記集電体側の下層部における前記活物質粒子に対する前記セラミクス粒子の重量濃度よりも高く、
前記表層部の厚みは、前記表層部及び前記下層部の合計厚みに対して30〜60%であり、
前記表層部は前記セラミクス粒子を前記活物質粒子100重量部に対し5〜85重量部含有し、
前記活物質粒子は炭素粒子であり、
前記下層部の前記セラミクス粒子の重量濃度は、前記表層部の前記セラミックス粒子の重量濃度の1/5以下である、リチウムイオン2次電池又は電気2重層キャパシタ用の電極。 - 前記表層部において、前記活物質粒子の平均粒径を1としたときに、前記セラミクス粒子の平均粒径が0.08〜1.0である請求項1記載の電極。
- 前記セラミクス粒子は、アルミナ粒子、シリカ粒子、ジルコニア粒子、チタニア粒子、マグネシア粒子、炭化珪素粒子、炭化タングステン粒子、窒化珪素粒子、及び、窒化硼素粒子からなる群から選択される少なくともひとつである請求項1又は2記載の電極。
- 前記下層部は前記セラミクス粒子を含まない請求項1〜3のいずれか記載の電極。
- 請求項1〜4のいずれか記載の電極を備える電気化学デバイス。
