Abstract
Description
i)熱エネルギーを吸収する相変化を受ける熱吸収材を有するセラミックハニカムフィルターを提供し、
ii)ディーゼル排気を、上記排気中のすすが上記フィルターによって捕獲されるように上記セラミックハニカムフィルターに通し、さらに、
iii)上記セラミックハニカムフィルターを、上記ディーゼルすすが燃焼するように十分に加熱する(ただし、上記熱吸収材が、上記すすの燃焼から生じる熱の一部を吸収する相変化を受ける)ことを含む、ディーゼルすすをろ過する方法である。
10×10セル×3インチ(”)(全体の寸法:3/4インチ×3/4インチ×3インチ)の長針状ムライトのディーゼル微粒子フィルターを米国特許出願公開第2006/0197265と同様な様式で作製し、しかし、13本のAlワイヤ(1mmの直径)を一列おきでの流出口流路の1つおきに設置することによって改変した。Alワイヤのパターンは、それぞれの流入口流路が、アルミニウム(Al)ワイヤを含有する流路に隣接する1つの壁を有するようにされる。加えられたアルミニウムの重量は1.9686gであった。Al含有流路をResbond919(Cotronics Corp.、Brooklyn、NY)セラミックセメントで塞ぎ、従って、Al含有流路はもはや流出口流路ではなかった。DPFには、その後、不完全燃焼に由来する0.146gのディーゼルすす(約5.5g/L)が負荷された。
アルミニウムワイヤが存在しなかったこと、及び、実施例においてアルミニウムワイヤによって占められたそのような流路が流出口流路であったことを除いて、実施例の場合と同じ様式及び同じサイズで作製された針状ムライトフィルターを使用した。すすの量及びすすの燃焼もまた、実施例の場合と同じであった。最高温度及び温度プロフィルが図2に示される。
Claims (20)
- セラミック本体の流入口端から流出口端まで延びる、隣接した流入口流路及び流出口流路によってつながれる流入口端及び流出口端を有する多孔性のセラミックハニカム本体を有し、前記流入口流路および前記流出口流路が、前記流入口流路と前記流出口流路との間にある複数の組み合わせられた薄い気体ろ過性の多孔性隔壁により、及びセラミック栓により規定され、前記流入口流路が前記セラミック本体の前記流出口端において流入口セラミック栓を有し、かつ前記流出流路が前記セラミック本体の前記流入口端において流出口セラミック栓を有するため、前記流入口端に入った流体は前記流出口端から出るために隔壁を通らなければならず、前記セラミックハニカム本体が、熱エネルギーを吸収する可逆的な相変化を受ける熱吸収材を有するセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記ハニカムが針状セラミックから構成される、請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記針状セラミックが針状ムライトである、請求項2に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記可逆的相変化が、固体から液体に融解することである、請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記熱吸収材が金属である、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記金属が、アルミニウム、スズ、銅、前記のいずれか1つの合金、又は、前記の混合物である、請求項5に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記熱吸収材が外殻に包まれる、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記外殻が、前記熱吸収材が前記可逆的相変化を受ける温度よりも少なくとも200℃高い融解温度を有するセラミック又は金属である、請求項7に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記熱吸収材が金属であり、前記外殻が前記金属の酸化物である、請求項8に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記金属が、アルミニウム、銅、スズ、前記のいずれか1つの合金、又は、前記のいずれかの混合物である、請求項9に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記金属がアルミニウム又はその合金である、請求項10に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記熱吸収材の前記相変化が、少なくとも約450℃から最高でも約1000℃までの相変化温度において生じる、請求項1に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記相変化温度が少なくとも約500℃である、請求項12に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- 前記相変化温度が最高でも約800℃である、請求項14に記載のセラミックハニカムフィルター。
- i)熱エネルギーを吸収する相変化を受ける熱吸収材を有するセラミックハニカムフィルターを提供し、
ii)ディーゼル排気を、前記排気中のすすが前記フィルターによって捕獲されるように前記セラミックハニカムフィルターに通し、さらに
iii)前記セラミックハニカムフィルターを、前記ディーゼルすすが燃焼するように十分に加熱する(ただし、前記熱吸収材が、前記すすの燃焼から生じる熱の一部を吸収する相変化を受ける)こと
を含む、ディーゼルすすをろ過する方法。 - 前記熱吸収材が金属である、請求項15に記載の方法。
- 前記熱吸収材が、前記熱吸収材が可逆的相変化を受ける温度よりも少なくとも200℃高い融解温度を有する外殻に包まれる金属である、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記金属がアルミニウム又はその合金である、請求項16に記載の方法。
- 前記熱吸収材が外殻に包まれる、請求項15又は16に記載の方法。
- 前記外殻が、前記熱吸収材が可逆的相変化を受ける温度よりも少なくとも200℃高い融解温度を有するセラミック又は金属である、請求項19に記載の方法。
