Abstract
【解決手段】重合体状フォームブロック、特にフェノール系フォームブロックを不活性または空気を排除した雰囲気中、温度約500℃から、より好ましくは少なくとも約800℃〜約3200℃で炭化させ、密度が約0.05〜約0.4であり、圧縮強度が少なくとも約2000psiであり、気孔率が約65%〜約95%、細孔の細孔容積の少なくとも約90%が約10〜約150ミクロンの直径を有し、縦横比が平均約1.0〜約1.5であるような調整可能なセル構造を有することで高温用途に十分な密度、圧縮強度が得られる。

Claims (22)
- 圧縮強度と密度の比が少なくとも約7000psi/g/ccである炭素フォームを含んでなる、炭素フォーム製品。
- 前記炭素フォームの圧縮強度と密度の比が少なくとも約8000psi/g/ccである、請求項1に記載の製品。
- 前記炭素フォームの密度が約0.05〜約0.4であり、圧縮強度が少なくとも約2000psiである、請求項2に記載の製品。
- 前記炭素フォームの気孔率が約65%〜約95%である、請求項3に記載の製品。
- 前記炭素フォームの細孔の平均縦横比が約1.0〜約1.5である、請求項4に記載の製品。
- 前記細孔の細孔容積の少なくとも約90%が約10〜約150ミクロンの直径を有する、請求項1に記載の製品。
- 前記細孔の細孔容積の少なくとも約95%が約25〜約95ミクロンの直径を有する、請求項6に記載の製品。
- 前記細孔の細孔容積の少なくとも約1%が約0.8〜約3.5ミクロンの直径を有する、請求項6に記載の製品。
