【請求項2】 有機化合物として、150℃における粘度が500〜5000cpのものを用いることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。
【請求項3】 有機化合物の炭化物の含有率が1〜25重量%となるように、黒鉛性炭素質物と液状有機化合物とを混合することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
【請求項4】 電極用炭素材料が、BET法による比表面積が0.7〜2.1m2 /gであることを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれかに記載の方法。
【請求項5】 黒鉛性炭素質物の表面に有機化合物の炭化物が付着している電極用炭素材料であって、当該有機化合物として、150℃における粘度が100cp以上であって、かつ、900℃で炭化させた場合の炭素化する成分と揮発する成分との重量比率が1:2〜1:4であることを特徴とする電極用炭素材料。
【請求項6】 有機化合物として、150℃における粘度が500〜5000cpであることを特徴とする請求項5記載の電極用炭素材料。
【請求項7】 有機化合物の炭化物の含有率が1〜25重量%となるように、黒鉛性炭素質物と液状有機化合物とを混合することを特徴とする請求項5または6に記載の電極用炭素材料。
【請求項8】 BET法による比表面積が0.7〜2.1m2 /gであることを特徴とする請求項5から7のいずれかに記載の電極用炭素材料。
【請求項9】 黒鉛性炭素質物と液状有機化合物とを混合し、得られた混合物を加熱して有機化合物を炭化させることにより製造される電極用炭素材料であって、黒鉛性炭素質物の表面に有機化合物の炭化物が付着していることを特徴とする請求項5から8のいずれかに記載の電極用炭素材料。
