The present invention relates to a package of smoking articles with a repositionable closure label.

The present invention finds advantageous application to a packet of cigarettes, to which the following description will make explicit reference without thereby losing generality.

ANTERIOR ART

Rigid cigarette packets with hinged lid are the most popular cigarette packets currently on the market as they are simple to make, are easy and practical to use, and offer good protection to the cigarettes contained inside.

A rigid packet of cigarettes with a hinged lid comprises an internal wrapping consisting of a group of cigarettes wrapped in a sheet of metallized paper and a rigid outer casing that houses the internal wrapping; the internal wrapping is initially completely closed and has an upper portion that can be removed by tearing (called "pull") which is removed when the packet of cigarettes is first opened to allow the extraction of the cigarettes enclosed by the inner wrapping. The external envelope consists of a cup-shaped container having an open upper end, and a lid, which is also cup-shaped and is hinged to the container to rotate, with respect to the container itself, between an open position and a position open end closure.

In the rigid cigarette packet with hinged lid described in patent applications W02008 142540 A1 and WO2012 147073 The internal wrapping is waterproof and has a cigarette extraction opening, which is closed by a reusable closure label; in other words, the closing label is provided with reusable adhesive that does not dry and which allows the closing label to be blocked several times in a closed position of the cigarette extraction opening. To simplify the opening and closing of the cigarette packet, or to allow the lid of the outer casing and the closing label of the internal wrapping to be opened and closed together with a single maneuver, a portion of the closing label is permanently and inseparably bonded to an internal surface of a front wall of the lid so that opening or closing the lid also opens and closes the closure label simultaneously.

Often the inner wrapping and outer wrapping exert a certain lateral compression on the group of cigarettes enclosed in the inner wrapping; when the pack of cigarettes is new, i.e. the group of cigarettes is intact and complete, the lateral compression exerted on the group of cigarettes by the internal and external wrapping can reach sufficiently high values to make it difficult to extract from the group of cigarettes of the first cigarette due to the friction between the first cigarette and the surrounding cigarettes. In order to facilitate the extraction of the first cigarette from the group of cigarettes, it has been proposed that at least one cigarette of the group of cigarettes be coupled with an extraction belt having a gripping end which protrudes from an upper wall of the group of cigarettes and is able to be pulled. to lift the cigarette itself.

Patent application EP2366638A1 describes a packet of cigarettes provided with an extraction belt which is coupled to at least one cigarette of the group of cigarettes and has a gripping end that protrudes from an upper wall of the group of cigarettes in correspondence with the extraction opening of the cigarette group. internal wrapping and is adapted to be pulled to lift the cigarette itself; the extraction ribbon is folded in a "U" shape around a lower base of the cigarette placed inside the inner wrapping and is completely detached from the inner wrapping and therefore can move freely with respect to the inner wrapping itself.

However, often the gripping end of the extraction ribbon tends to adhere to the upper wall of the group of cigarettes and therefore becomes complicated to grasp, making the presence of the extraction ribbon itself useless. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The object of the present invention is to provide a rigid package of smoking articles with a hinged lid and with a strip for extracting the first cigarette, which package is free from the drawbacks described above and is, at the same time, easy and economical to produce.

In accordance with the present invention, a rigid package of smoking articles with a hinged lid and with a strip for extracting the first cigarette is provided, according to what is claimed in the attached claims.

PREFERRED FORMS OF IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INVENTION

In Figures 1, 2 and 3, the number 1 indicates a rigid packet of cigarettes as a whole. The pack 1 of cigarettes comprises an external container 2 made of cardboard or rigid cardboard and shaped like a cup and a sealed wrapping 3 (better illustrated in Figure 7) housed inside the container 2. The external container 2 has an open upper end 19 and is provided with a lid 4, which is cup-shaped and is hinged to the external container 2 along a hinge 5 (illustrated in figure 2) to rotate, with respect to the external container 2 itself, between an opening position (illustrated in figure 3) and a closed position (illustrated in Figures 1 and 2) of the open upper end 19. The external container 2 has a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape oriented according to a prevailing direction of development, is cup-shaped, and has the upper end 19 open, a lower wall 6 opposite the upper end 19 open, a front wall 7 and a wall 8 rear (in which the hinge 5 is obtained) parallel and opposite to each other, and two side walls 9 parallel and opposite to each other. Four longitudinal edges are defined between the front 7, rear 8 and side 9 walls of the outer container 2, while four transverse edges are defined between the walls 7, 8 and 9 and the lower wall 6 of the outer container 2.

The lid 4 has a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape, is cup-shaped, and has an open lower end (facing the open upper end 19 of the outer container 2 when the lid 4 is in the closed position), an upper wall 10 (which is parallel and opposite to the lower wall 6 of the outer container 2 when the lid 4 is in the closed position), a front wall 11 (which is parallel and aligned with the front wall 7 of the outer container 2 when the lid 4 is in the closed position ), a rear wall 12 (which is parallel and aligned with the rear wall 8 of the outer container 2 when the lid 4 is in the closed position and is hinged to the rear wall 8 of the outer container 2 along the hinge 5), and two walls 13 sideways parallel and opposite to each other (which are parallel and aligned, in particular coplanar and adjacent, to the side walls 9 of the container 2 e.g. when the cover 4 is in the closed position). Four longitudinal edges are defined between the front 11, rear 12 and side 13 walls of the lid 4, while four transverse edges are defined between the walls 11, 12 and 13 and the upper wall 10 of the lid 4. The longitudinal edges and the transverse edges of the lid 4 are parallel and aligned with the corresponding longitudinal and transverse edges of the outer container 2 when the lid 4 is in the closed position.

According to the embodiment illustrated in the attached figures, the pack 1 of cigarettes is devoid of a collar; according to a different embodiment not shown, the pack 1 of cigarettes comprises a collar, which is fixed (normally by gluing) folded in a "U" shape inside the external container 2 to partially protrude outside the upper end 19 open and engage a corresponding internal surface of the lid 4 when the lid 4 itself is arranged in the aforementioned closed position; the collar is preferably provided with closing elements (for example a pair of claws projecting laterally) to keep the lid 4 in the closed position.

Wrapping 3 encloses a group 14 of cigarettes (partially illustrated in Figure 3 and fully illustrated in Figures 8, 9 and 10) of parallelepiped shape; furthermore, the wrapping 3 has an upper and frontal opening 15 for extracting the cigarettes closed by a reusable closure label 16.

The closure label 16 is fixed to the wrapper 3 by means of repositionable glue 17 which does not dry (illustrated in figure 14), which is applied to the internal surface 18 of the closure label 16 (i.e. the surface of the label 16 of closure facing the wrapper 3) and is arranged all around the extraction opening 15 to allow the closure label 16 to come several times (i.e. at each opening of the pack 1 of cigarettes) partially separated from the wrapping 3 and therefore fixed again to wrapping 3 (at each closing of pack 1 of cigarettes).

The closure label 16 is provided with a connection tab 20, which is permanently and inseparably glued to the internal surface of the front wall 11 of the lid 4 by means of permanent glue 21 (illustrated in figure 14) which is applied to the external surface 22 of the closing label 16 (ie the surface of the closing label 16 facing outwards, ie from the opposite wall of the wrapping 3). In this way, by opening or closing the lid 4 simultaneously, the closing label 16 is also opened and closed as well illustrated in Figures 4, 5 and 6. According to a possible (but not binding) embodiment, the connecting tab 20 it is connected to the remaining part of the closure label 16 by a folding line 23 (schematically illustrated in figures 7, 14 and 15),

In the embodiment illustrated in the attached figures, the external surface of the tab 20 connecting the closure label 16 is permanently and non-separable glued to the internal surface of the front wall 11 of the lid 4 by means of the permanent glue 21. According to a different and perfectly equivalent embodiment, not shown, the connecting tab 20 of the closure label 16 is bent in a "U" shape (i.e. it is bent by 180 °) around the bending line 23 in such a way that the internal surface of the tab 20 connecting the closure label 16 is permanently and inseparably glued to the internal surface of the front wall 11 of the lid 4 by means of the permanent glue 21.

As shown in Figure 14, the tab 20 connecting the closure label 16 is provided only with the permanent glue 21 and is completely free of repositionable glue 17. According to a preferred embodiment illustrated in Figure 14, the permanent glue 21 is arranged at a non-zero distance D1 from the folding line 23, i.e. the permanent glue 21 does not touch the folding line 23 and therefore there is an intermediate space without glue 21 permanent close to the folding line 23. Similarly, according to a preferred embodiment illustrated in Figure 14, the repositionable glue 17 is arranged at a non-zero distance D2 from the folding line 23, i.e. the repositionable glue 17 does not touch the folding line 23 and therefore there is an intermediate space without of glue 17 which can be repositioned close to the folding line 23. In this way, an area of the closing label 16 arranged across the folding line 23 is completely free of glue on both sides (both of the repositionable glue 17 and of the permanent glue 21).

According to a possible embodiment illustrated in Figure 14, the closure label 16 is connected to the wrapping 3 also by means of permanent glue 24 which is arranged in correspondence with a rear wall of the wrapping 3, or in correspondence with an area in which should never be separated between the closing label 16 and wrapping 3. The presence of the permanent glue 24 ensures greater and more certain adhesion between the closing label 16 and the wrapping 3 and therefore avoids any risk of complete separation (and therefore unwanted) of the closure label 16 from the wrapper 3 itself.

As illustrated in Figure 15, the wrapping 3 is obtained by folding a sheet 25 of heat-safe wrapping, which has a rectangular shape, is folded around the group 14 of cigarettes and once folded is stabilized by heat-sealing (i.e. overlapping portions of the sheet 25 of wrapping are connected to each other in a stable way by heat sealing). The wrapping sheet 25 has an incision 26 which is shaped like a "U" and defines the opening 15 for extracting the wrapping 3; furthermore, the closing label 16 is glued to the wrapping sheet 25, which completely covers the incision 26 (ie the extraction opening 15). Between the closing label 16 and the wrapping sheet 25 is interposed the repositionable adhesive 17 which is sensitive to pressure (i.e. that does not dry) which allows even after a long time and for a high number of times to separate the label 16 closure from the wrapping sheet 25 and then reuniting the closure label 16 to the wrapping sheet 25.

The presence of the repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive 17 (i.e. that does not dry) between the closing label 16 and the wrapping sheet 25 determines the permanent bonding (i.e. that even in use is never separated) of the portion of the sheet 25 of wrapping enclosed inside the incision 26 (ie in correspondence with the extraction opening 15) to the closing label 16; therefore, when the closure label 16 is lifted from the wrapping sheet 25, the portion of the closure label 16 enclosed within the incision 26 (i.e. in correspondence with the extraction opening 15) rises together with the closure label 16, freeing the extraction opening 15 (as illustrated in Figure 3). Furthermore, the presence of the repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive 17 (i.e. that does not dry) between the closing label 16 and the wrapping sheet 25 determines a temporary bond (i.e. that in use is separated) between the portion of the sheet 25 of wrapping surrounding the incision 26 (i.e. surrounding the extraction opening 15) and the closing label 16 so as to normally keep the closing label 16 in contact with the wrapping sheet 25 to close (seal) the opening 15 for extraction.

Preferably, the wrapping 3 comprises a reinforcing element, which is made of cardboard or rigid cardboard (completely similar to the cardboard or rigid cardboard making up the external container 2), is shaped like a "U" and is arranged inside the wrapping 3 in contact with group 14 of cigarettes. The reinforcing element comprises a front wall of rectangular shape arranged on one side in contact with a front wall of the group 14 of cigarettes and on the opposite side in contact with the front wall of the package 3 and a pair of side walls, which are connected to opposite sides of the front wall and are arranged on one side in contact with the side walls of the group 14 of cigarettes and on the opposite side in contact with the side walls of the wrapper 3. The front wall of the reinforcing element has a recess which is arranged at the top, it is shaped like a "U", and facilitates the removal of the cigarettes from the group 14 of cigarettes since it leaves an upper area of the front wall of the group 14 of cigarettes exposed in correspondence with the extraction opening 15.

According to what is illustrated in Figures 8, 9 and 10, an extraction belt 27 is provided (similar to the extraction belt described in patent application EP2366638A1) which is coupled to a cigarette 28 of the group 14 of cigarettes and has an upper end 29 which protrudes from an upper wall of the group 14 of cigarettes in correspondence with the opening 15 for extracting the package 3 and is bound (glued) to the closing label 16 in such a way as to be pulled by the closing label 16 itself due to the opening of the cover 4 and then lift the cigarette 28 itself. According to what is better illustrated in Figure 11, the extraction ribbon 27 is folded in a "U" shape around a lower base 30 of the cigarette 28 arranged inside the wrapper 3; moreover, the extraction belt 27 is completely released from wrapping 3 (except for the connection between the upper end 29 and the closing label 16) and therefore can move freely with respect to wrapping 3 itself; in other words, the extraction belt 27 does not have any type of mechanical connection (except the connection between the upper end 29 and the closing label 16) with the wrapping 3 and therefore all the parts of the extraction belt 27 they can flow without any hindrance with respect to wrapping 3.

As better illustrated in Figure 11, the extraction tape 27 comprises a vertical wall 31 which ends with the upper end 29 glued to the closure label 16 and is arranged in contact with a cylindrical side wall 32 of the cigarette 28. Furthermore, the extraction ribbon 27 comprises a horizontal wall 33 which is perpendicular to the vertical wall 31 and is arranged in contact with the lower base 30 of the cigarette 28. Finally, the extraction ribbon 27 comprises another vertical wall 34 which ends with a lower end 35 of the extraction tape 27 opposite the upper end 29 glued to the closing label 16, is parallel and facing the vertical wall 31, and is arranged in contact with the cylindrical side wall 32 of the cigarette 28 on the opposite side of the cigarette 28 with respect to the vertical wall 31 . In the embodiment illustrated in Figures 8-13, the vertical wall 34 of the extraction belt 27 is arranged facing and adjacent to the front wall 7 of the external container 2.

According to a preferred embodiment illustrated in Figures 8, 9 and 10, the vertical wall 34 of the extraction belt 27 has an enlarged portion 36 having a width (i.e. a transversal dimension) greater than the remaining part of the extraction belt 27 (and in particular with respect to the horizontal wall 33). The enlarged portion 36 has a greater width than the diameter of a cigarette (preferably a width between twice and three times the diameter of a cigarette) and the remaining part of the extraction ribbon 27 has a smaller width than the diameter of a cigarette . In other words, the extraction tape 27 is composed of a narrow portion extending from the upper end 29 glued to the closing label 16 and an enlarged portion 36 extending from the lower end 35 opposite the upper end 29 and has a greater width than the narrow portion.

At the first opening of the pack 1 of cigarettes, the user opens the lid 4 for the first time by rotating the lid 4 around the hinge 5; with this movement of the lid 4 the closing label 16 (which is glued to the lid 4) is also raised and the closing label 16 pulls upwards the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27 (which is connected to the closing label 16) causing the lifting of the cigarette 28 coupled to the extraction belt 27 itself. Thanks to the fact of making the tab 20 connecting the closure label 16 permanently integral with the internal surface of the front wall 11 of the lid 4 and the fact of making the upper end 29 of the extraction strip 27 permanently integral with the closure label 16 (and therefore, indirectly, to the lid 4) it is possible to obtain the simultaneous lifting together with the lid 4 of both the closure label 16 and the extraction tape 27.

When the closing label 16 pulls the extraction ribbon 27 upwards, it causes a vertical movement of the extraction ribbon 27 which moves upwards together with the cigarette 28 (as illustrated in Figures 3, 6 and 9); the cigarette 28 is lifted vertically together with the extraction belt 27 with respect to the rest of the group 14 of cigarettes (as shown in figures 3, 6 and 9) and therefore can be easily extracted through the opening 5 for extracting the package 3.

The enlarged portion 36 of the extraction belt 27 has a double function.

In the first place, the enlarged portion 36 avoids that when the upper end 29 of the extraction ribbon 27 is pulled upwards, this causes, instead of the desired lifting of the extraction ribbon 27 together with the cigarette 28, a sliding of the extraction ribbon 27. extraction with respect to the cigarette 28 (ie that the extraction belt 27 moves while the cigarette 28 remains stationary, causing the extraction ribbon 27 to be removed without any usefulness from the group 14 of cigarettes). In other words, if, following the traction applied by the closing label 16 to the upper end 29 glued to the closing label 16 of the extraction ribbon 27, the extraction ribbon 27 itself begins to slide with respect to the cigarette 28 (i.e. it begins to slip out of the group 14 of cigarettes), the enlarged portion 36 must begin to deform to pass under the group 14 of cigarettes, but due to the size of the enlarged portion 36 this deformation requires a high force which is greater than the force required to cause the lifting of the ribbon 27 of extraction together with the cigarette 28. Consequently, any sliding of the extraction ribbon 27 with respect to the cigarette 28 stops when the enlarged portion 36 must begin to deform to pass under the group 14 of cigarettes due to the high force necessary to produce such deformation. Furthermore, the enlarged portion 36 helps to keep the extraction ribbon 27 in the correct position around the cigarette 28 during the lifting of the cigarette 28 itself, preventing the extraction ribbon 27 from making unwanted lateral (transverse) displacements; in other words, the enlarged portion 36 confers to the extraction belt 27 a high stability during the lifting of the cigarette 28, preventing the extraction belt 27 from making unwanted lateral (transverse) displacements.

As previously said, at least the horizontal wall 33 of the extraction belt 27 has a smaller width than the diameter of a cigarette; this constraint is necessary to allow the extraction belt 27 to lift only the cigarette 28, since if the horizontal wall 33 of the extraction belt 27 were wider than the diameter of a cigarette, then the horizontal wall 33 would be in contact not only with the cigarette 28, but also of the two cigarettes adjacent to the cigarette 28. Furthermore, the enlarged portion 36 of the extraction ribbon 27 has a greater width than the diameter of a cigarette and this constraint is necessary to allow the enlarged portion 36 to be arranged in contact with the cigarette 28 and of the two cigarettes adjacent to the cigarette 28 as illustrated in Figures 8, 9 and 10. According to a preferred embodiment, the enlarged portion 36 of the extraction belt 27 has a greater width between double and triple the diameter of a cigarette; in this way, it is ensured that the enlarged portion 36 is in contact with three and only three cigarettes: the cigarette 28 and the two cigarettes adjacent to the cigarette 28. If the enlarged portion 36 of the extraction belt 27 were (significantly) narrower than double diameter of a cigarette, then it would not be able to provide adequate stability to the extraction ribbon 27, while if the enlarged portion 36 of the extraction ribbon 27 were (largely) wider than triple (or, at most, quadruple) the diameter of a cigarette could cause an excessive resistant frictional force during the lifting of the cigarette 28. The upper end 29 of the extraction ribbon 27 is glued to the closure label 16. In the embodiment illustrated in Figures 1-11 and when the lid 4 is closed, the upper end 29 of the extraction belt 27 is arranged astride the upper transverse front edge of the wrapping 3 and therefore has a panel which is arranged vertically at contact of a front wall of the closure label 16 and another panel which is arranged horizontally in contact with an upper wall of the closure label 16; consequently, when the lid 4 is closed, the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27 takes on an "L" shape in which the two panels are perpendicular to each other.

According to the embodiment illustrated in figures 12 and 13, the two panels of the upper end 29 of the extraction belt 27 are superimposed on each other (i.e. folded 180 ° one on top of the other) thus assuming a "U" shape; in this case only the outer panel of the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27 is glued to the upper wall of the closure label 16. When the lid 4 is closed, the two panels of the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27 are superimposed on each other as shown in Figure 13; when the lid 4 is opened, the outer panel of the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27 follows the movement of the upper wall of the closing label 16 (to which it is glued), also dragging the inner panel and therefore the remaining part of the tape with it 27 of extraction. The embodiment illustrated in Figures 12 and 13 allows closing label 16 to be closed better (or more simply, with less effort) when the lid 4 is closed, but on the other hand has a shorter lifting stroke of the cigarette 28; consequently, this embodiment is better suited to be used when the extraction ribbon 27 lifts more than one cigarette 28 and is therefore used several times (ie over several opening / closing cycles of the lid 4).

According to a different embodiment, the upper end 29 of the extraction belt 27 has a single panel which, when the lid 4 is closed, is arranged vertically in contact with a front wall of the closure label 16 or, alternatively, is arranged horizontally in contact with an upper wall of the closure label 16 (folded forward as illustrated in Figures 8-11, or folded backwards as illustrated in Figures 12 and 13).

According to an embodiment not shown, the vertical wall 31 of the extraction belt 27 is arranged facing and adjacent to the front wall 7 of the external container 2.

In the embodiment illustrated in Figure 15, the wrapping sheet 25 which constitutes wrapping 3 has a through hole 37, which is arranged in correspondence with the closing label 16 and in correspondence with the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27; in this way, the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27 is directly in contact with the internal surface 18 of the closure label 16 and is therefore glued to the internal surface 18 of the closure label 16 by effect of the action of the repositionable glue 17, In other words, externally to the through hole 37 the repositionable glue 17 applied to the internal surface 18 of the closing label 16 determines a gluing between the closing label 16 and the wrapping sheet 25 while the repositionable glue 17 applied inside the hole 37 passes through to the internal surface 18 of the closure label 16 causes gluing between the closure label 16 and the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27. In this way it is possible to glue the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27 to the closing label 16 without having to apply additional glue. According to a different embodiment not shown, the wrapping sheet 25 which constitutes the wrapping 3 is devoid of the through hole 37 and therefore a further permanent glue is provided which glues the upper end 29 of the extraction tape 27 to the part of the sheet. 25 of wrapping arranged inside the incision 26 and therefore permanently integral with the closing label 16; in other words, in this embodiment, the upper end 29 of the extraction ribbon 27 is not directly fixed to the internal surface 18 of the closing label 16, but is directly connected to the part of the wrapping sheet 25 arranged inside the incision 26 which is permanently integral with the closure label 16.

According to a different embodiment not shown, the extraction belt 27 simultaneously lifts several cigarettes 28 of the group 14 of cigarettes; for example, the extraction belt 27 could simultaneously lift two or three cigarettes 28 or could simultaneously lift all the cigarettes 28 of the same row of cigarettes (for example as described in patent application WO2012127446A1).

In the embodiment illustrated in figures 1-15, the wrapping 3 is integral with the external container 2 (ie it does not perform any type of movement with respect to the external container 2 and is normally glued to the external container 2 itself).
