Amino anthracenediones-bis platinum complexes of formula (I) and their non-toxic and acid salts are new: where X,X1 = ligands selected from Cl, Br, OH, CH3SOCH3.Cl, CH3SOCH3.Br, CH3SOCH3.OH; or X+X1 = anion of a linear or cyclic opt. substd. dicarboxylic acid; m = 0, 0.5 or 1-5; Solv = solvent of crystallisation selected from water, 1-5C alcohols, acetonitrile and ethylacetate; A = a disubstd. 1,4-anthracenedione of formula (i) Rc,Rd = H or OH; Rb = 1-6C alkyl opt. substd. by OH, 1-3C alkoxy, 2-8C polyalkoxy on sulphonic gp.; mono-amino-sugar in acetalic or linear form of formulae (a) or (b) resp.: R1 = H, 1-3C alkyl, hydroxymethyl or aminomethyl; R2-R4 = NH2, OH or H; provided that at least one of R2-R4 = H and only one of R1,R2 or R3 = NH2; R5 = OH, 1-3C alkoxy or benzyloxy; when R5 = OH, (a) and (b) represent the same structure where the cyclic hemiacetalic form and the opened aldehydic form are in equilibirum; when R5 = alkoxy or benzyloxy, it can be an alpha or a beta-oloside. Ra = H, 1-5C alkyl, (CH2CH2O)pH, (CH2CH2O)pOCH3, (CH2CH2O)pC2H5; n = 2-3; p = 1-6.
