Abstract
A description is given of a railway axle of the type in which an antifriction bearing is mounted in a seat defined between two elements, one of which turns relative to another and is fitted, towards the outside of the seat, with a sealing assembly suitable for protecting respective rolling bodies of the bearing; an annular element of the sealing assembly is angularly constrained integral with the rotating element of the axle and is fitted with a plurality of permanently magnetised zones with substantially the same width and arranged circumferentially and spaced from one another with an essentially constant pitch; inside the seat and in the vicinity of said annular element of the sealing assembly there is also a sensor borne by the fixed element of the axle and such as to be activated by the transit in front of it by the ability of said magnetised zones to generate a periodic signal with a frequency proportional to the number of apertures which transit in front of the sensor in the time unit. <IMAGE>
