Abstract

6.Alpha-fluoro-9 alpha-chloroprednisolone 17,21-diesters of formula (I) are new, R1 and R2 are 1-6C alkyl or aryl; and Z is H, alpha- or beta-methyl. Proviso is that when Z is alpha- methyl, then R1 and R2 are both other than Me. 9 Beta, 11-beta- epoxides (II) corresp. to (I) are new. Cpds. (I) are antiinflammatory agents with high activity and low glucocorticoid action on topical or systemic admin. Cpds. (II) are intermediates in the prepn. of (I). 11 Cpds. (I) and 14 cpds. (II) are specifically claimed, including (I) in which Z is H and R1 and R2 are both Me or Et or R1 is Me and R2 is Ph or Bu.
