Description

41583/21- 1 - A FLEXIBLE POINT OF SALE AND ANTITHEFT SYSTEM Field of the invention The present invention is in the fields of purchase goods apparatus. More specifically, the invention relates to a flexible point of sale and antitheft system, particularly in physical sales locations such as stores and open markets.
Background of the invention The commercial purchase goods market is constantly evolving, where younger buyers, which are more comfortable with gadgets and prefer online experience (increasingly by utilizing smartphones running mobile purchase applications), and characterized as having lower patience, and therefore, when it comes to purchasing products in a physical store, the period of time between collecting a product from its display upon leaving the corresponding store, becomes a major consideration (and even the main consideration) when choosing between two competing stores, or even between buying in a physical store or online.
Physical stores are challenged with multiple shopliftings of displayed products to such an extent, that a fixed percentage of lost income is commonly calculated when managing stores' financials. In order to eliminate shopliftings, antitheft systems are widely used for years by commercial stores.
These systems essentially comprise multiple antitheft devices, such as antitheft tags comprising detectable means (e.g., a magnet, a basic NFC transmitter) attached to the purchasable items, to be detected by the corresponding detection and alerting devices located at the stores' exists.
Unfortunately, using the existing antitheft systems (in which the antitheft tag must be removed from a protected product or disabled at the cashier desk) results in a constant cumbersome purchase process that includes waiting in the checkout line, from which no legitimate buyer can escape, where this process being prone to bothering an embarrassing incidents such as products and shopping carts abandoned 41583/21- 2 - near the checkout area, and checked out customers being surprised by fault alarms at the stores' exists.
It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide a flexible point of sale and antitheft system, which enable the billing and antitheft means removal at multiple locations, thus the buyer does not need to wait in a crowded checkout line in order to purchase a product.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a flexible point of sale and antitheft system, eliminating undesirable embarrassing triggering of an antitheft alarm when exiting physical sales locations.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the description proceeds.
Summary of the Invention A flexible point of sale and antitheft system, comprising a main computer configured to disarm an antitheft tag upon completing a transaction for purchasing at least one product associated with said antitheft tag, wherein said transaction is initiated by a mobile purchase application that runs on a mobile device.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the system comprising: a) a main computer adapted with suitable processing, data storage, and communication hardware for running a dedicated store management software that manages the store's merchandise inventory database and selling operations, wherein said main computer interfaces with one or more inventory monitoring terminals, with a mobile purchase application running on buyers' mobile devices, and with one or more antitheft devices, b) one or more inventory monitoring terminals, adapted to scan a uniquely identifying means of said one or more antitheft devices for updating the store's inventory by communicating with said main computer, and in turn, to arm a locking means of said one or more antitheft devices, locking the attachment thereof 41583/21- 3 - to a newly added merchandize item, c) one or more mobile devices running said mobile purchase application which is configured to utilize mobile devices' capabilities for detecting uniquely identifying means of said one or more antitheft devices attached to one or more merchandize items, to communicate with said main computer the detected identifications, to receive the details of said merchandize item therefrom, to enable payment for one or more of said merchandize item, and consecutive disarm and removal of said one or more antitheft devices therefrom, d) one or more antitheft devices, each of which comprises a detectable uniquely identifying means, a lockable means and corresponding locking means for firmly attaching said one or more antitheft devices to one or more of said merchandize item, a power source for supplying power to said locking means, and communication means for communicating with arming/disarming means, and accordingly to activate/deactivate said locking means, wherein said one or more antitheft devices are further adapted to be in communication with nearby detection means, thereby to alert whenever one or more armed antitheft devices pass through said detection means, and e) one or more detection means, adapted to detect one or more antitheft devices passing nearby, and to trigger an alert, whenever one or more of the detected one or more antitheft devices are armed.
The one or more detection means may be configured to trigger an alert if one or more disarmed antitheft devices are not returned upon removal from a purchased item.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the detectable uniquely identifying means are be selected from the group consisting of: a barcode, a QR code, an NFC circuit, or any combination thereof.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the communication means are selected from the group consisting of: Bluetooth means, Wi-Fi means, NFC means, or any combination thereof. 41583/21- 4 - The locking means may comprise solenoid-operated arrangements, such as mechanical and/or magnetic arrangements.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the arming/disarming means may be selected from the group consisting of: the one or more inventory monitoring terminals, the one or more mobile devices, the one or more detection means, or any combination thereof.
Brief Description of the Drawings The above and other characteristics and advantages of the invention will be better understood through the following illustrative and non-limitative detailed description of preferred embodiments thereof, with reference to the appended drawings, wherein:- Fig. 1 schematically illustrates a device, according to an embodiment of the present invention;- Fig. 2A schematically illustrates a perspective view of an antitheft device, according to an embodiment of the present invention;- Fig. 2B schematically illustrates an exploded view of the antitheft device of Fig. 2B; and- Fig. 3 schematically illustrates a layout of a, according to an embodiment of the present invention.
