Abstract

The cheese tank, which is designed as a trough with a semi-cylindrical outside surface (2), is provided with a drive shaft (4) which is situated above the maximum filling level (18). The said shaft (4) supports radially projecting stirring elements (6) and cutting elements (7) and is made to rotate in a reciprocating manner so that it is possible only to immerse one or other of the types of element in the contents of the tank if this should be required; the reciprocating movement is programmable. Drawing off apertures (13) for whey and an outlet (16) for emptying and rinsing are mounted in one of the end faces (3) of the tank. Because separate elements are provided for stirring and cutting and can in each case be used on their own, according to the rotary movement of the shaft, much larger cheese tanks can be produced, in which processing quality is nonetheless the same as in tanks which have to be small to permit manual processing. <IMAGE> [GB1524198A]
