1436376 Isoquinoline derivatives E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 19 July 1973 [20 July 1972 1 June 1973] 34438/73 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R<SP>1</SP> is C 1 -C 6 alkyl, benzyl, phenethyl or cycloalkylmethy of the formula -CH 2 CH(CH 2 ) n where n is 2-5, R<SP>2</SP> is divalent oxygen, A is H or OH, Ar is a group of the formula where R<SP>3</SP> is H, OH, OCH 3 or acetoxyl, R<SP>4</SP> is OH, OCH 3 or acetoxyl or two of R<SP>3</SP> or of R<SP>4</SP> situated on adjacent carbons may be combined to form a divalent methylenedioxy group, and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. Compounds wherein A is H and R<SP>2</SP> is or may be prepared by reducing the corresponding 1,3-diketo decahydroisoquinoline. Compounds wherein A is OH and R<SP>2</SP> is or may be prepared by reducing the corresponding 1, - diketo - 8,8a - epoxydecahydroisoquinoline. The products may be converted into compounds having different R<SP>2</SP> values by known methods. [GB1436376A]
