1,220,804. Measuring the moment of inertia of golf clubs. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. Feb. 12, 1968 [Feb. 14, 1967], No. 6934/67. Heading G1N. An apparatus for measuring or comparing the moment of inertia of golf clubs comprises a pivoted balance beam having a cradle for a golf club, the cradle being so arranged with respect to the beam that it can support a golf club in a position horizontal to the bar, and the pivot for the beam is so positioned that it is beneath a chosen axis in the golf club when the golf club is in position in the cradle, the balance of the bar being adjustable by two counterweights each of which is movable over a scale, the first scale being calibrated in units of moments of inertia or a similar empirical derivation and the second scale being calibrated in accordance with golf club lengths, both scales being based on the relationship between the moment of weight and moment of inertia of golf club.
