Abstract

In a first aspect, the present invention provides a portable lantern comprising a base; and at least one light source assembly spaced apart from the base, wherein the at least one light source assembly is rotatable about a first axis of rotation from a first position adjacent and proximal the base toward a second position distal the base. The lantern may comprise a reflector member for reflecting light from the light source to the surroundings, wherein the reflector member is located in a position so as to be substantially operable only when the light source assembly is located in either the first position or the second position.
