Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a case unit with an opening covered with a light-transmitting member and a method of assembling the case unit.
Background
As the case unit with an opening covered with the transparent member, for example, a case unit for a timepiece including a wristwatch, a case unit for a mobile phone, a case unit for a pda (personal data assistant), a case unit for a portable music reproducing device, a case unit for a portable or small radio, and the like are known.
For example, a conventional wristwatch case unit is disclosed in Japanese patent application laid-open No. 2000-329869.
This conventional case unit for a wristwatch includes: a metal case having a timepiece module housing space in which a timepiece module having a plurality of hands for displaying time is housed; and a timepiece glass as a light-transmitting member covering an entrance opening in which the plurality of hands of the timepiece module are exposed in the timepiece module housing space of the metal case. The timepiece glass is fitted to the inlet opening of the timepiece module housing space via a timepiece glass fixing/waterproof cover between an outer peripheral surface of the timepiece glass and an inner peripheral surface of the inlet opening. In addition, in the outer peripheral region of the outer surface of the watch glass, an annular bezel is placed on the outer surface of the metal case so as to cover the inlet opening peripheral region surrounding the inlet opening of the watch module housing space, and the annular bezel is fixed to the inlet opening peripheral region of the outer surface of the metal case by fixing screws.
The metal shell is relatively heavy, complex to process and relatively expensive. Further, the fixing screws used for fixing the watch glass together with the watch glass fixing and waterproof cover to the inlet opening of the watch module accommodating space of the metal case complicate the watch glass fixing structure of the conventional watch case unit and also complicate the assembly of the conventional watch case unit.
It has also been proposed to fix the ring-shaped bezel to the peripheral region of the inlet opening on the outer surface of the metal case using a double-sided adhesive tape instead of the fixing screws, but the performance of the double-sided adhesive tape is lowered as a result of a test after long-term use or standing at a high temperature for a long time.
There is also a wristwatch case unit using a synthetic resin case instead of a metal case. Since the synthetic resin case has elasticity greater than that of the metal case, when subjected to an external impact, the watch glass must be physically complicated and complicated to assemble, such as the ring bezel using the fixing screws, in order to prevent the watch glass from coming off the inlet opening of the watch module housing space of the synthetic resin case along with the watch glass fixing/waterproof cover after a long-term use or in a test in which the watch glass is left at a high temperature for a long time.

Detailed Description
As shown in fig. 1 to 3, a wristwatch case unit 10 according to an embodiment of the case unit of the present invention includes a resin case main body 12 including an outer peripheral surface 12a and an opening forming surface 12c surrounded by the outer peripheral surface 12a and forming an opening 12b. In this embodiment, the resin case main body 12 is integrally molded with, for example, abs (acrylonitrile Butadiene styrene) resin.
In this embodiment, the resin case main body 12 is formed in a substantially circular disk shape. One side surface of the circular plate-shaped resin case main body 12 is provided with an opening forming surface (front surface) 12c formed with an opening 12b, and the other side surface of the circular plate-shaped resin case main body 12 is provided with an inner surface 12e formed with another opening 12d communicating with the opening 12b.
In the resin case main body 12, a space between the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c and the other opening 12d of the inner surface 12e provides a timepiece module accommodating space 12f. A known timepiece module 14 is inserted and accommodated in the timepiece module accommodating space 12f through the opening 12d of the inner surface 12e of the resin case main body 12. The opening 12d of the inner surface 12e is covered by an inner cover 18 via a waterproof ring 16, and the inner cover 18 is detachably fixed to the inner surface 12e by a known fixing means such as a fixing screw. In this embodiment, the inner lid 18 is formed of a corrosion-resistant metal such as stainless steel or titanium.
The timepiece module 14 includes: for example, a known time measuring means not shown, a drive source such as a known battery not shown for the time measuring means, and a known display means 14a for displaying the time measured by the time measuring means. In the timepiece module accommodating space 12f, the display unit 14a of the timepiece module 14 faces the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c.
In the timepiece module housing space 12f of the resin case body 12, the timepiece module 14 is held at a predetermined position in the timepiece module housing space 12f by the back cover 18 and a positioning ring (partition ring) 19 provided at a predetermined position in the vicinity of the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c so as not to move toward the opening 12b.
The timepiece module 14 of this embodiment has a control circuit for performing various functions other than time measurement by the time measurement means, and the functions performed by the control circuit can be displayed on the display means 14a.
The display unit 14a of the timepiece module 14 of this embodiment includes: a plurality of hands 14c (including an hour hand, a minute hand, a second hand, and the like) fixed to the projecting end portions of the plurality of hand drive shafts 14b projecting from the time measurement unit, and a dial or an information display plate 14d located on the base end side of the plurality of hand drive shafts 14b and displaying various information including time in cooperation with the plurality of hands 14c.
The display unit 14a may include a known sign display device such as a liquid crystal display device in the dial or the information display panel 14d, or may include only a known sign display device such as a liquid crystal display device without the plurality of pointer drive shafts 14b and the plurality of pointers 14c. The dial or information display panel 14d may also be combined with a solar cell.
The outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case body 12 is provided with 1 pair of watchband attachment projections 20 at two predetermined positions separated by approximately 180 degrees. A plurality of operation buttons 22 for controlling the above-described control circuit of the timepiece module 14 housed in the timepiece module housing space 12f of the resin case main body 12 are further disposed on the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12 at a plurality of locations other than the above-described two predetermined locations.
A step 24 facing the entrance of the opening 12b is formed on the inner peripheral surface of the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12 at a position closer to the entrance of the opening 12b than the display unit 14a and the positioning ring (dividing ring) 19 of the timepiece module 14. The step 24 is shown in figure 4.
An annular elastic member 26 disposed along the inner circumferential surface of the opening 12b is placed on the step 24. The elastic member 26 may be formed of, for example, nitrile rubber (NBR), fluoro rubber (FKM), urethane rubber (U), silicone rubber (VMQ), ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM), hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR), chloroprene rubber (cr), acrylic rubber (acrylic rubber) (acm), and isobutylene rubber (llR).
A translucent member 28 covering the opening 12b is press-fitted into the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12 via an elastic member 26. In this embodiment, the pressing is performed using, for example, a pneumatic press machine. The diameter of the inner peripheral surface of the elastic member 26 is smaller than the diameter of the outer peripheral surface of the light-transmitting member 28. By the press-fitting, the elastic member 26 is compressed in the radial direction of the opening 12b and is further pressed against the surface of the step 24. As a result, the outer peripheral surface of the transparent member 28 is in close contact with the inner peripheral surface of the annular elastic member 26, the outer peripheral surface of the annular elastic member 26 is in close contact with the inner peripheral surface of the opening 12b, and the bottom surface of the annular elastic member 26 is in close contact with the surface of the step 24 of the inner peripheral surface of the opening 12b. The compressed elastic member 26 increases the frictional resistance against the light-transmitting member 28 and the inner peripheral surface of the opening 12b, and the light-transmitting member 28 is less likely to fall off from the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case body 12.
The opening forming surface 12c of the resin case body 12, the outer surface facing the external space of the light transmitting member 28 to be press-fitted, and the outer surface facing the external space of the elastic member 26 are preferably substantially the same surface.
In this embodiment, the transparent member 28 is a so-called watch glass. The watch glass has good transparency and can be colored in various colors.
In order to facilitate the press-fitting and to eliminate the possibility of damaging the inner peripheral surface of the elastic member 26 on the opening forming surface 12c side of the resin case main body 12 by the press-fitting, in this embodiment, as shown in fig. 5, the inner peripheral surface portion of the elastic member 26 on the opening forming surface 12c side of the resin case main body 12 is formed into an inclined surface or a curved surface 26a having a diameter larger toward the outside in the radial direction of the elastic member 26 than the outer diameter of the transparent member 28 before the press-fitting. The inclined surface or curved surface 26a of the elastic member 26 is pressed as illustrated in fig. 4 by the press-fitting.
A fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30 is fitted to the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12 in a vicinity of the opening forming surface 12c. The frame member 30 further includes an elastic member suppressing portion 30b extending from the fitting portion 30a toward the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12, protruding toward the entrance of the opening 12b, and covering at least a part of the elastic member 26 at the entrance. The fitting portion 30a and the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 may be integrally formed of the same material having elasticity smaller than that of the material of the resin case main body 12, for example, a metal such as stainless steel.
The essential function of the fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30 is to reliably prevent the light-transmitting member 28 from being pushed into the opening 12b together with the elastic member 26 and expanding outward in the radial direction of the opening 12b in the resin case main body 12 in a long-term test or a long-term test at a known high temperature, and to reliably prevent the light-transmitting member from coming off from the outer peripheral surface of the resin case main body 12 even when an impact from the outside is usually considered. That is, the light-transmitting member 28 is reliably prevented from coming off the opening 12b of the resin case main body 12 therebetween. Therefore, at least the fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30 is made of a material capable of performing such an essential function, and is required to be formed into a shape capable of performing such an essential function. In this embodiment, the fitting is performed by, for example, press fitting using a pneumatic press machine.
The outer surface of the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30, which can be observed when viewed toward the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12, may be subjected to a decorative process.
In this embodiment, both the fitting portion 30a and the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 have a ring shape extending annularly along the inlet peripheral edge of the opening 12b of the resin case main body 12. However, as long as the fitting portion 30a can perform an essential function as described above, only one of the fitting portion 30a and the elastic member suppressing portion 30b may have a ring shape, and the other may be divided into a plurality of portions spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction of the ring shape.
In this embodiment, the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 covers at least 1/2 of the dimension of the elastic member 26 from the peripheral edge of the entrance of the opening 12b of the resin case main body 12 toward the center of the entrance of the opening 12b. However, the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 may cover the entire size of the elastic member 26 in the above-described direction.
The essential function of the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 cooperates with the fitting portion 30a to more reliably prevent the light transmitting member 28 from coming off the opening 12b of the resin case main body 12. Therefore, as long as the essential function of the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 can be exhibited, the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 may cover a dimension of the elastic member 24 from the inlet peripheral edge of the opening 12b of the resin case main body 12 toward the center direction of the inlet of the opening 12b, which is 1/2 or less.
In the wristwatch case unit 10 of this embodiment, the outer peripheral surface of the fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30, the outer surface of the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 facing outward opposite to the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12, and the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12 are covered with the exterior member 32.
The exterior member 32 may be formed in a desired shape and a desired material, and fixed to the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12 by a desired fixing member.
In this embodiment, the exterior member 32 is mounted on the outer surface of the elastic member-suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 via a buffer member 34 such as urethane rubber. The buffer member 34 is preferably annular, but may be disposed at a plurality of positions spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction of the fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30.
Next, an example of a method of assembling the wristwatch case unit 10 according to the above-described embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to fig. 1 to 4.
In this assembling method, a disc-shaped resin case main body 12 including an outer peripheral surface 12a, an opening forming surface 12c surrounded by the outer peripheral surface 12a and formed with an opening 12b, and a step 24 provided on an inner peripheral surface of the opening 12b and facing an entrance of the opening 12b is prepared. The resin case main body 12 has another opening 12d communicating with the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c on the inner surface 12e, and a timepiece module accommodating space 12f is provided between the opening 12d of the inner surface 12e and the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c.
The positioning ring (dividing ring) 19 and the timepiece module 14 are sequentially inserted into the timepiece module accommodating space 12f through the opening 12d of the inner surface 12e with the display unit 14a of the timepiece module 14 facing the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c, and held at a predetermined position in the timepiece module accommodating space 12f.
Thereafter, the opening 12d of the inner surface 12e is covered by an inner cover 18 via a waterproof ring 16, and the inner cover 18 is detachably fixed to the inner surface 12e by a known fixing means such as a fixing screw.
Next, an annular elastic member 26 is placed on a step 24 on the inner peripheral surface of the opening 12b via the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12, and the annular elastic member 26 on the step 24 is arranged along the inner peripheral surface of the opening 12b.
Next, the fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30 prepared in advance is press-fitted to the vicinity of the opening forming surface 12c on the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12. Further, at least a part of the elastic member 26 is covered at the entrance of the opening 12b by an elastic member suppressing portion 30b extending from the fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30 toward the entrance of the opening 12b of the resin case main body 12 and protruding toward the entrance of the opening 12b. In this embodiment, the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 covers at least 1/2 of the dimension of the elastic member 24 in the direction from the inlet peripheral edge of the opening 12b of the resin case main body 12 toward the center of the inlet of the opening 12b.
Further, the inner peripheral surface of the elastic member 26 in the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12 is pressed into the light transmitting member 28 covering the opening 12b via the elastic member 26 via the inclined surface or the curved surface 26a on the opening forming surface 12c side of the inner peripheral surface. By this press-fitting, the elastic member 26 is compressed in the radial direction of the opening 12b and is further pressed against the surface of the step 24. The compressed elastic member 26 increases the frictional resistance against the light transmitting member 28 and the inner peripheral surface of the opening 12b, and the light transmitting member 28 is less likely to fall off from the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12.
Finally, the exterior member 32 is mounted on the outer surface of the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30 via the cushioning member 34. The exterior member 32 covers the outer peripheral surface of the fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30, the outer surface of the elastic member suppressing portion 30b of the frame member 30, and the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12, and is fixed to the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12 by a desired fixing member.
In another example of the method of assembling the wristwatch case unit 10, the order of placing the elastic member 26 on the flange 24 in the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12 and press-fitting the fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30 to the vicinity of the opening forming surface 12c of the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12 may be reversed.
That is, after the fitting portion 30a of the frame member 30 is press-fitted to the vicinity of the opening forming surface 12c of the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12, the elastic member 26 is placed on the step 24 in the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12, and the elastic member 26 is made to follow the inner peripheral surface of the opening 12b. At this time, the elastic member 26 on the step 24 covers at least a part of the above-described opening 12b at the entrance thereof by the elastic member restraining portion 30b of the frame member 30. Finally, the translucent member 28 for covering the opening 12b is press-fitted into the inner peripheral surface of the elastic member 26 of the opening 12b of the resin case main body 12.
Further, according to the aspect of the present invention, the planar shape of the outer peripheral surface 12a of the resin case main body 12 and the planar shape of the opening 12b of the opening forming surface 12c of the resin case main body 12 can be made circular, elliptical, polygonal, or other various desired shapes, respectively.
Further, according to the present invention, the case unit having the opening covered with the transparent member can be used for, for example, a case unit for a timepiece, a case unit for a cellular phone, a case unit for a pda (personal data assistant), a case unit for a portable music player, a case unit for a portable radio, a case unit for a small radio, and the like, of course, in addition to the case unit 10 for a wristwatch described above.
Additional advantages and modifications will readily appear to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the invention in its broader aspects is not limited to the specific details and representative examples shown and described herein. Accordingly, various modifications may be made within the spirit or scope of the general invention as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
