Abstract
The invention refers to a method and devices for the achievement of local cooling of the environment of an outlet valve and its seat, in a medium speed or low speed diesel engine. The method consists of the spraying of a coolant, through at least one outflow nozzle (5) in the interior of the combustion chamber and specifically, in the area in front of the seat (2) of the outlet valve (1) in a strictly specific time, just before the start of the immersion of the outlet valve. In this mode, a cloud of vapors is created that constitute the first gaseous mass that will pass through the very limited opening between the seat (2) and the outlet valve (1) during the first stages of its immersion, in the start of the outlet time. The outflow nozzles (5) may be on the outlet valve (1), on the seat (2), on the cylinder head (3), at the area of the outlet recess and they either constitute holes on the material of the valve, of the seat or the cylinder head on which they have been formed or they constitute the ends of the spraying nozzles (10).
