Abstract

Slit lamp biomicroscope and eye-fundus camera which incorporate a light source which can be reduced to the lowest possible intensity for illuminating the fundus of the patient, and an electro-optic image intensifier tube. The illumination system illuminates the eye with low-intensity light, which is then amplified thousand times by the attached electro-optic image intensifier tube. By this way, the examination of the human eye fundus is performed under particularly low illumination, without using eye drops for pupil dilation, thereby preventing the side- effects of the eye drops, reducing the eye-examination duration and accelerating the diagnosis of ocular diseases needing immediate treatment.
