A sorting table for separating unhulled and hulled rice is provided with zig-zag structures 2 and made torsionally stiff by a main bearer 4 carrying cantilever bearers 5. The table is reciprocated in the direction of the axis of the main bearer to throw the material against the zig-zag surfaces and the inclination of the table can be adjusted by pivoting about the said axis. Preferably, the main bearer is tubular and of circular or polygonal cross-section.
