Abstract

999,596. Jointing by stamping. BURNDY CORPORATION. Dec. 24, 1963 [Dec. 31, 1962], No. 50879/63. Heading B3Q. A tool for crimping connectors to energized conductors comprises jaws 18, 20 with lever arms 28, 32, a support 40 on which the arm 28 pivots at 14, an actuating arm 42 on which the arm 32 pivots at 16, and a pair of links 44, 46 each pivoted to the arm 42 and to the support 40 at points 15, 19, 14, 17 respectively. The pivot 16 for arm 32 may be mounted on a lever 43 adjustable about pivot 19 by screws 45, 47 to vary the crimping gap. Pivots 14, 15 are on support 40; pivots 16, 17, 19 are on the arms 42. During closing of the jaws 18, 20, pivot 17 passes through a line joining the centres of pivots 14, 16, Fig. 1 (not shown). A hook 41 is provided on the support 40, and the handles 50 may be made of fibreglass.
