Abstract

996, 035. Contact printing apparatus. W. ZINDLER, [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER KOMM.-GES.]. Jan. 29, 1963 [Feb. 15, 1962], No. 3658/63. Headings G2A and G2C. In a copying process in which an original is exposed to radiation whilst in surface contact with a coated copy material, the material is ordinary paper and is coated immediately before the copying step. As shown, an original is inserted in a feed channel 10 in the direction of the arrow 18 and a copy sheet in the direction 19. A guide plate 14 has an opening 22 through which a roller 23 projects. The roller dips in a container 27 for liquid 28 which is transferred to a sheet of copy paper. The liquid may be zinc stearate or any substance that changes in colour at a certain temperature numerous examples of which are given. A heat source 30 is provided within a reflector 31 beneath openings 29 for drying the coated copy sheet. The original and copy sheet are guided in contact round a cylinder 2 driven in the direction of arrow 9. The cylinder 2 which is of radiation transmitting material, such as glass, has a heat source 30, e.g. an IR-radiator within a reflector 21. An image on the original is thus reproduced on the copy sheet, since the radiation from the heat source is absorbed to a greater degree in the black or image areas and this is transformed into heat which affects the copy sheets in the pattern of the image.
