Abstract

980,165. Nut runners. ATLAS COPCO A.B. Oct. 30, 1963 [Nov. 7, 1962], No. 42805/63. Heading B3N. [Also in Division B4] A nut runner comprises a wrench 14, held for partial free rotation by plates 11, 12, a reciprocating hammer 21 forming part of a pneumatic hydraulic or electric tool 20 adapted to deliver impact blows to an anvil 22, which anvil cooperates with a lug 23 on the wrench. In operation, wrench 14 is placed over the nut and the tool 20 is turned until anvil 22 abuts a rounded face 24 on lug 23, whereupon the wrench is impacted and the wrench is then rotated manually to tighten the nut. For ease of handling a pivoted handle 26 may be journalled in bores 27 of plates 11, 12. A second lug 28 and spring 29 may be provided to urge face 24 into engagement with anvil 22.
