987,767. Printing processes. AGFA A.G. March 1, 1963 [March 1, 1962], No. 8340/63. Heading B6C. [Also in Division G2] An electro photographic process for producing a plurality of prints from an electrostatic latent image comprises the steps of (I) forming an electrostatic or latent conductivity image on a photo-conductive insulating member, (II) depositing developer particles containing dye capable of subliming at a temperature of from 80‹ C. to 220‹ C. on the member in conformity with the image pattern, (III) partially transferring the dye to a second surface by heating the image to temperatures between 80 and 220‹ C. while in contact with the second surface to produce a print on the second surface due to part of the dye subliming while the remainder of the image is left as a residual image, (IV) separating the photoconductive member and the second surface and (VI) repeating steps (III) and (IV) with other second surfaces. The developer preferably consists of a powdered mixture of a sublimable dye and resin, the softening point of the resin being higher than the sublimation point of the dye. Dye bases of triphenylmethane series, dispersion dyes, smoke dye, benzine soluble dyes and oxidation dyes, capable of subliming with the range 80‹-220‹ C. may be used; specific examples of each are given. According to a modification, the developed image on the photoconductive member is transferred by electrostatic force to a transfer member and is transferred to a further surface by heating as in steps (III) and (IV).
