Abstract

987,578. Anchor-nuts. PRECISION SCREW & MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Aug. 3, 1962 [Aug. 23, 1961], No. 30349/61. Heading F2H. A nut secured to a sheet metal panel comprises a tubular internally threaded body provided with a flange 10 and with a spigot 12 having a neck of reduced thickness adjacent the flange, the spigot being of non-circular configuration over at least part of its length. As shown in Fig. 1 the spigot 12 is frusto-conical and is knurled. In a modification the spigot comprises a cylindrical knurled neck and a second flange which is cylindrical. In another modification, Fig. 3, the face 17 of the flange 10 adjacent the spigot is undercut and only part of the frusto-conical spigot is knurled at 13. The nut on being pressed into a hole of substantially similar diameter in a metal sheet, causes the metal of the sheet to flow into the neck of the spigot or into the acute angle between the flange and the spigot.
