970,827. Stoppers. H. M. HOBSON Ltd. June 12, 1963 [July 26, 1962], No. 28783/62. Heading B8T. A liquid-tight closure for a hole drilled in a body fabricated of light alloy and having an internal screwthread 12 communicating with a flared seating 14 at the outer end of the hole, comprises an externally threaded steel plug 1, a step washer 5 sealed on the seating 14, a sealing ring 4 and a helically coiled insert 6, e.g. of steel, within the hole which mates with the thread on the plug. The step washer may be of polytetrafluorethylene. The closure may initially consist of only the plug and the sealing ring, the step washer and the insert being fitted after the hole and seating have been remachined after wear of the original hole.
