970,281. Surgical tables. KIFA A.B. July 11, 1962 [July 20, 1961; April 18, 1962], No. 26632/62. Heading A4H. [Also in Division B8] A medical treatment table comprises a patient-supporting platform 4 having side members 7 adapted to be received in U-section members 13 on a frame 3, pivotally mounted on a shaft 5 carried by a bracket 3A which is pivoted about an axis 6, Fig. 1, on a vertically movable column 2 supported by a base 1. The pivotal movement of the frame 3 and the vertical movement of the column 2 are controlled by means (not shown) on the base 1 or on an independent control panel. A safety device for opposing the release of the side members 7 from the members 13 by tilting movement comprises angle profile elements 14, 15, which may be coupled together, pivoted to the members 13. The platform 4 is transported to and from the table by a trolley 9 comprising a tubular frame, open on one side so as to be movable into a position wherein the upper surface of the trolley overlies the frame 3 of the table, abutments 11 being provided to locate the platform 4 on the trolley. In operation, the platform 4, suported by the trolley, is located with its side members 7 over the members 13 and the frame 3 is then raised to lift the platform from the trolley. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), one end of the platform 4 is supported on the trolley by a vertically movable member so that the platform 4 may be maintained in an inclined position during transport by the trolley and during transfer to the correspondingly inclined frame 3.
